Are You Fashionable?

Both Sabine from Sabine Psynopsis and Lisa from The Sentimentalist tagged me with the same fashion Q and A, which was incredibly flattering and humbling because they are both dedicated and beautiful fashion bloggers.  I do not consider myself a fashion blogger by any means and I feel a need to do this in honor of all those bloggers who wish they were more stylish than they think they are.

To put it plainly: this goes out to all those bloggers who know that if Stacy London were to raid their closets they would barely have anything to wear to New York.

What is your favorite fashion accessory?
Scarves.  Nothing brightens up a face like a colorful scarf.

Who's your fashion role model?
Patricia Field.
She seriously knows how to dress a person individually and is extremely practical when doing so.
What do you always carry with you?
My debit card, phone, and ID.  Anything else gets in the way.

How would you describe your style?
My husband says playful elegance.
I say by day, sloppy dancer.  By night, chic librarian.

What's your favorite?  Jeans, glasses, or heels?
Heels.  Neither jeans or glasses make me feel like a woman, but heels do.

What inspired you to blog about fashion?
I think dance and fashion merge quite nicely.  Both inspire each other.

What is your favorite fashion store?
Anthropologie in theory, Target in reality. Is Target a fashion store? No? Oh well.

What is your favorite fabric in clothing?
Polyester.  I do not own an iron and I have not ironed anything in years.  But I do love my silk pajamas.

Who are your favorite designers?
Nina Ricci, Givenchy, Calvin Klein (for men).
Who or what inspires your style?
A well dressed woman.  I say, "I want to look like that" and then I try to find out if I can.

Would you choose to buy something high quality or make it yourself if you could?
I would definitely make it myself.  I tend to dress modestly (shirts with sleeves, hemlines to the knee) but I find that most modest clothing looks very boring (hence librarian looks).  If I could, I would design crazy things that I still feel comfortable in.  Unfortunately, the only things I can sew are the ribbons on my pointe shoes.

Target is a very much fashion store with their designer "for target" line! :) I have some pieces from there, and I LOVE them, add to it that I paid NOTHING for them ( because they were on clearance - it really was nothing), and I was in HEAVEN coming out , knowing that I got some beautiful pieces for nearly free :)

you are being modest i think. Whenever you post pictures of your self you look very well dressed. I like someone who can rock the conservative look, becuase I think you need a lot of confidence to do that. Any 'ol gal can wear a mini skirt and think she is the beesknees for it. But its not the length of the skirt that makes the gal ;)

Such a wonderful post! I admit, I'm a pretty preppy dresser, and while I feel like it suits me and my body, sometimes I yearn to be the girl wearing sky high heels with cuffed jeans and a silk peasant blouse with a fur vest. Then I put those things on and look like a crazy circus clown. I've learned that no matter how "stylish" I want to be, the best look is the one that suits your figure and your face!

sometimes i like to think that i'm fashionable ,but then my sister who has an masters in fashion design bluntly reminds me that i'm not and brings me back down to earth.

haha, fashionable women inspire me so much! I totally, like a true stalker, saw a girl in a coffee shop and scribbled down what she had down so I could find pieces similar. I think I am going to do this post over at my blog. I think I have no style what so ever. I sure try hard.

haha! i love the anthropologie/target answer. it's so true! i swoon and drool over places like anthropologie and modcloth, but in reality i could never afford them. i've also been "thrifty" for so long that i think i would still have a hard time dropping big bucks on one item of clothing even if i were suddenly rich. i think there are so many ways to be fashionable on the cheap, so why put in the money?

oh! and i hope i get to meet you sometime soon. i think we would have a real blast being fancy, then shopping at target together. :)

I love all your answers!!! I think you and I have something very important in common: bow embellishments! I love bows on everything. Everything. It is fun to get this little personal look into your life. Sometimes even personal blogs can overlook the obvious.

Thank you so much for your support of my blog. It has really meant a lot to me as I have been refinding myself among my life changes. You are always positive and inspiring just when I need it.
