Flip Flops and Sandals That Are Good For You

The response to yesterday's post was interesting, painful, and just plain funny.  So many of us are addicted to flip flops!  I read each of those comments and thought "There has got to be a solution."

I did some research and found some good for you sandals.  As mentioned, flip flops are okay but only with a supportive arch.  Unfortunately, sandals like those are not very cute (we have some very fashion savvy readers of this blog).  As mentioned in the ABC News article, Reefs are great for long term use.  Good news for us because most of the sandals on Reefs' website have an anatomical arch support and are way cuter then the typical walking shoe.  Here are my favorites.

For the more casual look:

See that arch support?  And look how cushy the sole is.  Not all the shoes on their website have this so make sure you get ones that do.

No joke, these sandals have mood beads on them that change color depending on your mood.

Feel better?  Good health starts with a good foundation.  Please take care of yourself during sandal season.

Beware of imposters... I bought some flip flops last summer from Nine West with an "arch" but it was clearly not a very good one because I always had a shooting pain in my foot by the end of the day.

Anyone here a Reef fan?  What was your experience with them?

I LOVE MY REEF FLIP FLOPS! I just have regular rubber type ones, I have had them for 3 years...no odor problem like I had with teva, and they are so comfortable. I don't have to grip with my toes, and the arch support is great!

My husband Ryan will only wear Reefs flip flops. They are a lot more expensive than your typical Old Navy pair, but they last several seasons rather than just a few months!

Third down from the top -- those are my favs! And I'm usually not one to go wild over sandals. But those? Yes, please.

Ohmygosh, how funny - I was just thinking of comfy flipflops!! I hear Reefs are very comfortable, but I use Zealands, and they've gotten me through quite well :)

Tiffany,
Thanks for you words of encouragement today. I wish I could find an adult ballet teacher such as yourself in my town!
Thanks for the flip flop lecture...I so needed to hear that.

Thanks for this, Tiffany! Have you personally worn Reefs? I'm a little suspicious when I just see the picture. I guess I've just been burned before with sandals that seem they have support, then my heels hurt about 2 hours later.

Appreciate it!

@Soullldiva is the Dancemomma!- I have not worn them but the ABC News article I cited said that they are on par with crocs in terms of comfort and support.

I have to agree with some other comments...third from the top...swooning!

I'm happy to hear that there are some shoes that aren't harmful!

I LOVED this post. Thank you for the information! I am very high arches and have always been misled by imposters, as you said.

Are you getting any of the above?

i have had a pair of reefs! besides getting a half a size too small, i know the next bigger size would have been perfect - because they were so comfy!! i love reefs - too bad my feet are soo large i tend to like to hide them and flip flops don't do the trick

I really need to find a pair of sandals for the summer - I am far too picky. At the moment I just have a pair of wedges that I am attempting to teach myself to walk in. On the bright side...they are super cute!! :)
