The iPhone! But now here's the problem. Should I get it now or wait until the new version comes out, whenever it comes out now that the prototype has made international news headlines (really? Is it really that important? I guess since I'm married to a future intellectual property lawyer I should think it matters THAT MUCH.)
Here are some fun iPhone user tidbits from Retrevo.com's Gadgetology Study that I think are hilarious.
~ iPhone users negatively judge people who have out-of-date gadgets and, furthermore, consider someone who has cool gadgets to be more attractive as a potential dating partner than someone with a college education.
~ iPhone users consider themselves to be more intellectual, extroverted, and media savvy than users of other devices.
~One in three iPhone users has broken up with his or her significant other via text or e-mail.
When I read my husband this he quickly responded that it's funny that, according to the study, iPhone users think they're smarter when the iPhone was created so that anyone could use it.

Re the latest 4G - don't wait. Yes there will be new features but they won't matter to you so much as getting your mitts on the current edition and getting used to it. And there are always technical glitches with new launches and most phone operators agrue that it's safer to wait a year until other users have ironed them out !
So my advice would be jsut go for it - you will have enough sheer joy seeing how much you can do with 3GS, you won't want anything else.
my fiance keeps trying to talk me into getting an iphone. My phone is so old it's not even funny.. I just don't feel like replacing something that isn't broken! haha

my husband wants to go into IP as well!...after hopefully clerking for a judge for a year.
And after wanting an iPhone since before they came out, my husband would say to wait for the new one. I don't know why, but he's a Mac snob so I always listen to what he says. He reads a ton of stuff concerning all things Apple so he can know what he's talking about, haha. Maybe the longer you wait, the better it gets...?
Oh dear, when I read the tidbits (hilarious!) I want to give my iphone back. Your husband is so right, most people I know who've got an iphone are pretty helpless when it comes to technology (including myself)- that's why they love the iphone. Breaking up with someone via text... Ouch!
Waiting or getting it right now? I think it might take a while until people can assess the new version and until you will hear proper reviews. So the waiting time might be even longer than just the release.
Apart from this I can only confirm that the iphone is great fun and has my life easier.
Pretty sure none of those apply to me. Hubs had to make me get it. HA! Although, I am glad he did. Having the email access and apps to keep the dude busy is pretty awesome.

Yay for the Iphone!! I actually don't have one (yet), but it's definitely something I'm wanting to get!! I don't know when the new version is coming out...but I figured, since I waited this long, I can wait for the new & improved version...

i freekin HATE my blackberry.
I like those iphone facts. I partly didn't buy one just to revolt against that idea that you aren't hip without one. But mostly I just really don't like AT&T. Also, I got my blackberry for free so I can't complain.
I've heard IPhones are magnificent.
I would just get it now, but that's me. I've never been one that has to have the latest gadget the minute it hits shelves. A phone is a phone is a phone! lol

usually new ones come out in june, it's not a far off wait, and i haven't been following what the new one will be like, so i can't say, but maybe if you can wait, do it? lol. i got my iphone 2 years ago, and i looove it.
I am still waiting to get my i-phone, I have to wait for that lovely contract to expire with t-mobile first though, but in the meantime I would wait for the new version since it is so close :)

I'm waiting until Verizon carries the iPhone. I want it so badly but my whole family is on Verizon so it's silly to switch carriers. I'm kinda not looking forward to becoming one of the mob carrying around an iPhone, but I know how awesome it is.

I love the iPhone, but I do find it funny there's a certain pretentiousness with some users. A friend of mine once said that the only thing you can say to these people is "you only bought it, you didn't invent it" ;-)
Hilarious! I'm actually quite embarrassed by my iphone when the friend next to me has an oldy-moldy. I don't like to go flashing it around. But I have a secret love affair with my iphone nonetheless :)
I had the same decision to make with regards to the phones, I was thinking of waiting for the new one to come out so the old one would be cheaper!
I worked it out thou that on my network, on the cheapest contract i would pay over £700 pounds for the phone in 18months :s not a nice thought!
