At the hotel in Disneyland, I wrapped my arm super tight in athletic tape and went swimming at 6 AM. I was craving an intense workout and by lap one I was huffing and puffing away. I forgot how much I love swimming. I love the feel of water and the sound it makes when your body goes through it. I can't wait to swim myself fit this summer.
On top of that my friend invited me to take a rowing class this summer with her. I am so excited! I've never rowed but I think it's important to try new things when keeping in shape. I'm just hoping my arm will be healed by then. Oh, I can feel the muscle mass in my arms fading away everyday.
I know this isn't a rowing class but I love the picture. It was either this or the scene in the Notebook.
ps...Thank you for all your sweet comments about my love story. I did eventually tell him what happened right before we got married. After reading my post, Chris laughed because he said he tells it as a funny story to people whereas I tell it as a romantic story. To each his own.

I absolutely love swimming. It is my favorite way to stay in shape by far... I swam in highschool and miss the feeling to swimming laps non stop! Love this post!

So impressed that you actually got up at six to work out. Me, I'm doing what I normally do--heading to the gym. At a more godly hour, though--I'm a nighttime runner. :)
Ohhh, thank you, Tiffany! This is really giving me a boost. I had some very frustrated tennis moments lately (and the arm is still bothering me, too), but now I think I will get myself a new tennis dress and get fit for the Wimbledon season!
I'm glad to hear that you can go swimming with your arm. Being in the water is such a beautiful thing! And rowing is supposed to be a super workout!
i wish i could swim to keep myself in shape. i love the pictures..how gorgeous

Rowing sounds like such a fun, energizing workout. I'm going to give stand up paddling a shot this summer. I'm excited about it. Otherwise, I'm going to still try and make my weekly yoga classes:)
To each his own is right! Too funny:)
humm.. I am going to do a ton of fun stuff; lots of walking, hiking, attempting to run but the bump is quite large now, bear hunting with Mr. Jack (a favorite game of his), water fights and of course giving birth. I think I have a pretty fun summer ahead.
You must keep us updated on the rowing class, it sounds so proper!
Still jealous of you being in Disneyland lol! I love swimming also although I don't go much!

oh my! I misses your blog. I love your new header and all the posts I've been catching up on... not many plans for staying fit just yet... but really looking forward about summer days :)
great post
Is cleaning the house part of keeping fit? Well, I'd like to do more gardening this year...& burn more calories!
xo*
I've mostly been going for pilates, cardio (3-4x's per week)and a daily dog walk. But I went back to yoga yesterday and remembered how much I loved it, so I'll be adding it back to my schedule!
Swimming with your arm wrapped up must have been hard! My trainer made me a three-month weigh training schedule, and I'm planning on taking a yoga class and a pilates class, and there will be lots of running with my boyfriend. I can't wait.
I swim a lot..I really love it...it gives me overall workout, which is great!
Rowing sound really great, I wish I could try it!
Have a fun day:)
Kisses
I love how you and you husband tell the story a little different! I love telling my boyfriend and I's story back and forth together...This summer, I hope to stay in shape as a camp counselor and participate in the children's activities. Hopefully there won't be many balls thrown at my head!!!!
Aw, I just read your How We Met story - that is so sweet.
And I plan on staying in shape by also playing tennis but this summer, I'm going to start running :)
I love swimming for exercise. I took the class twice in college ( the coach called me squirt) and I loved the feeling of swimming long laps twice a week. I'm taking yoga this summer, I'm super excited! Rowing sounds amazing, I've always wanted to try that. I hope your arm feels better soon!
Hmmm...if I had a really cute cruiser, I would love to go on daily bike rides. It seems that would be a wonderful way to stay in shape but also to just clear your mind and be peaceful. :)
Yoga and walking the dog...that's about as intense as it will get :)
I was just telling the hubs the other day that I wish I could find a crew club. I've always wanted to do it too!
You get 'em, girl, not letting an injury hold you back! Once my brother broke his arm during the summer. He was probably 10 at the time. We got him this inflatible tube that you inflate once the arm is in and it covers the cast. This way he could swim with the cousins. Maybe something like that could help you?
I can't wait to hear about your rowwing experience!
I'm very excited for school to get out next week so that I have time for things like exercise and reading again! I love hiking (since I live in northern California and there are so many gorgeous places to hike), but when I don't have as much time, I've been into Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred! It's kind of a killer but it's good!
(glad I found your blog--it's so cute!)
