A Sweet Proposal

On Saturday night, during the final bows of San Francisco Ballet's production of Romeo and Juliet, principal dancer Davit Karapetyan (who played Romeo) proposed to his girlfriend, fellow SF Ballet principal dancer Vanessa Zahorian (who just happened to be Juliet).  Here's an excerpt of his story straight from the company's blog:

"...I forgot my speech. I realized that I’m not going to remember anything I said and it was all getting very emotional for me. I just walked around to Vanessa and went to my knee and the audience went crazy! They started screaming and I got even more nervous. I handed the ring out of my poison case and I asked Vanessa to marry me. She got teary eyed and was in shock; she said, “yes, yes, yes!” It was one of the best moments in my life. What a great way to end the season and with Romeo & Juliet: a true love story. Thank you for all who helped me make this a reality!"

To see her priceless reaction visit the company's blog, Open Studio.

I love proposal stories.  Do you have a good one?  Maybe your own?

  4. Oh. My. Gosh. THIS IS SO SWEET! Honestly, cute proposal stories are my favorite. I once read one about a boy who spelled out "Will You Marry Me?" with pumpkins in a huge field. How cute is that?! :)

  6. That is sweet, although I'm not sure I would want my relationship modelled on Romeo & Juliet.

  7. Fantastic - though I agree R&J is not actually the most romantic of ballet's to choose !! Bit like all those people who want to marry on the balcony in Verona. I mean, why ? It doesn't have a happy ending !!!

But you heard about the proposal story at the RB I guess ? In Nutcracker ? Made all the papers and Hello !
