Learning

image

"The day a dancer stops being a student is the day they need to hang up their leotard."
~Linda Smith, Artistic Director of Repertory Dance Theater, on the first day of the intensive.  She was trying to assure those in attendance that dancing alongside company members should not be intimidating because they are still learning also.  True in all life situations.  Everyone is still learning.

This is so true. The same also applies to yoga - even (or especially) when you teach you always need a teacher yourself.
Hope you are feeling better, Tiffany! xoxo

And you know what, I always feel that dancers are the only people who really get that ? They really don't take anything for granted and are always striving to be better; not first, just better. And once they can't do that any more, or don't want to, as you say, they are off. Probably that's just how it should be.

what a BEAUTIFUL image!

and her words are so true. i used to take a lot of drawing and painting classes. it drove me BONKERS because some classmates were so skilled and professional, and some of us (MOI) were just insecure beginners that bumbled around and couldn't seem to get anything right. but CLEARLY i was focusing on the wrong thing! all types are at all different stages, and ALL are learning. :)

I can't wait to hear more about what you're learning! And if you get to wear a dress like that, I'm super jealous.
