Maybe a TMI Post

On Friday I woke up not feeling so well.  I noshed on Cheerios until Mr. Branflake came home and made me some toast.  I remember very little except that later that night I saw those Cheerios and that toast one more time.  And then another time.  And then another.  But here's the weird thing: I was so hungry!  I mean, as I am laying in bed completely sick to my stomach with a 101 degree fever and feeling like the room was spinning I had the most intense hunger pains.  So I would eat some more Cheerios and say hello to them again just a few minutes later.

That cycle continued until Sunday where I finally felt well enough to eat some pretzels on the plane ride over to Utah.  Even then, I had to play it cool and I regretted the ginger ale (worst idea ever). Still, I was so hungry I even envied those eating at all the greasy airport restaurants, so happy and oblivious to the fact that all I wanted to do was rip into a burger or monster burrito with abandon. (The above photo was so not me this weekend.  But Chris did feed me some chicken broth on a breakfast tray. So sweet!  )

So yesterday (in between the awesome 8 hours of dancing) I was able to eat a little soup and a soft pretzel from a pub next door.  I still felt queasy but was too hungry to care.  What I really wanted to do was order that amazing club sandwich and steak cut fries I saw someone else eating.  And the calamari and flat bread pizza and loaded nachos...

What would be the first thing you would eat if you were famished for three days straight?  Rich, heavy meals? (ME!) or something healthier like a salad or some fruit?

That really does sound horrendous ! Good to hear you are on the mend though. I'd go for something light and fluffy, just in case....

if i was just famished id want a big green thai curry with egg fried rice. but if id been sick multiple times...id probably be so boring and just eat a whole pack of arrow root biscuits - very good for upset tums - until i knew i was going to puke no more. and then have the thai curry :D

Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear you were ill in bed. I applaud you for having danced for eight hours in that state. To answer your question I would have a dish of plain baked potatoes. That does wonders for energy. Look after yourself, my lovely;-)

my fiance had the same symptoms over the weekend. How strange! I kept getting mad at him, thinking he wasn't as sick as he was claiming, because he kept talking about junk food! lol

I remember being pregnant and not being able to eat because of morning sickness but feeling so hungry that I used to cry. Once I past the first trimester I kind of became a vegan, I was eating copious amounts of fruit and veggies and drinking smoothies like it was summer time.
I'm glad you're feeling better! Yay for steak sandwiches!
xo.

Oh that sounds horrible. Your strength must be zapped; I'm sure the RDTSI is testeing you.
Feel better and make sure you are taking care of yourself!

Hollie- That is hilarious! It's so true though!

Oh no!! I hope you feel better!! Honestly, one of the worst things I hate about getting sick is not being able to eat/taste anything :( It's miserable enough to be sick but to take away the pleasure of food?! Ahh, that's reason enough to care for yourself to heal. Even though I'd like to eat something rich and tasty and probably bad for you :) I would probably start feeling nauseous, so I try to ease back into eating by starting with something light and healthy.
Feel better, darling!! Eat something wonderful!! :)

Yikes, I'd probably ease into it especially if I were dancing! Soup and bread first. Then maybe bland fruit like a banana and then if you're feeling good still then I'd rip into a juicy cheeseburger with fries!

Oh, I know these weird cravings when you've got a stomach bug. Hope you are feeling better now, Tiffany!
First thing when famished? It's a toss between pasta and sushi. xoxo

Aww poor you - hope you feel better now!!

I'm always hungry, and I like big, heavy meals best :) I think my food-cravings are more savoury than sweet, so usually burger & fries would do it. I could kill a burger right now, in fact!

Hmmm... I would probably make a big sandwhich and some fruit, and a smoothie! Hope you are feeling better!! xx :)

WHAT!?? You've been sick during this big event in Utah? Bummer.
I went 2 days without eating once when I was in the hospital. When they finally fed me they brought me one (yup ... 1) ritz cracker. I savored that thing like you wouldn't believe! And after 2 days of nothing, I swear I could taste every last seasoning it was made with!

Poor thing! I hate to be sick that way, glad you are on the mend. Ick! Oh, something huge and greasy, if I was famished, I would totally forgo fruit and salad!

I would nosh on that YUMMY burberry burger.

I hate being sick, so I'd probably be super careful not to eat anything that would upset my stomach. Although nothing could probably separate me and my gummy candy!

Hope you can tear into that burger soon!

Oh no! I hope you are over it now. I really felt your pain in this story! I have been there, and it's the worst. I would eat something warm and hearty like risotto when I am over it...

I'm glad your feeling better, having a bug like that is never fun. Whenever I feel like that I certainly don't feel like eating that is quite unusual. Though I think my ultimate comfort foods is carbs and cheese so maybe I would be wanting pizza. Hope you can stomach some greasy food and satisfy those craving soon lol!

Aww, sorry to hear you were sick hun. I hope you are feeling better now. Much like you, I would go for a rich heavy meal. In fact, I'm making steak for dinner tonight. Why don't you come on over? ;)

I hope you're feeling better, especially since you're at an intensive!

My Chicago intensive happened a year ago now, and I'm feeling nostalgic for it. Have a fab time!!

Are you sure you're not preggers? Just a thought...I've never had that feeling with a flu, only when I was pregnant.

Either way, hope you feel better, gf! I would start with the BRAT diet: banana, rice, apples, toast. And go from there. Potatoes usually sound good to me, too, after I've had a sick tummy.

I went through this in February! All I wanted was to drown myself in Gatorade and water but that would last only about 3 minutes...weirdly enough, I craved Taco Bell after the stomach pains ended, not normal for me at all! Get well!

Aw, I'm so sorry Tiffany- it stinks to be so sick!
And it's funny that you were hungry through the whole thing. Some people can't eat. But I would have been starving, too :)

Mo Pie, Please said...

Yeah I'd eat some creamy delish pasta or pizza or something. Hope you're feeling much better and have eaten wonderful food since.

I'd be like you, probably, but something like would be best.

Glad you are feeling a bit better. You must really have a great inner strenght to be able to dance in that condition. Hope you recover totally soon!

You poor, poor thing! I think I would go with something on the lighter side.. I would be scared to eat anything too filling! I hope that aside from the illness, you're enjoying dancing with RDT! That's really amazing :)

Brandi said...

Awww, Tiff, I'm so sorry you weren't feeling well. And how strange your illness was! Though I think I've been there before. The first thing I'd eat after being sick is some delicious french toast. And I too have said hello and hello again to french toast. Still my favorite.
I hope you're feeling better, my dear.

Definitely rich & heavy. Hope you're feeling much better!

3 days straight? I'd run, not walk, for a footlong sandwich from Subway and some soup! I do hope you're feeling much better :)
