"To ride a horse is to ride the sky."

My ballet teacher also loved horses.  For some reason most dancers do.

As a girl I loved horses more than anything else.  I even took English riding lessons at a stable up north. I had my own riding hat, boots, and little whip.  I realized today that perhaps my love for bike riding stems from my love of riding fast on a horse with the wind through my hair.  Not the same but equally as thrilling.

I love this but Audrey should really be wearing a riding hat.

As a kid we would go out to Half Moon Bay and ride horses along the beach.  I remember kicking my horse to go faster and faster because he never seemed fast enough.  I really should go back and relive those childhood memories.  Who's with me?

Any horse lovers out there?  Any plans to go riding along the shore?

I would be with you any time, Tiffany. Got the same romantic childhood memories about horses (always wanted to ride to school). I didn't take riding lessons, but did vaulting (I did fancy the circus, too ;-). xoxo

yes, I have ridden along the shore and it was amazing. My bike is my new ride and it's a lot easier for me to handle....

I haven't ridden a horse in a long time, but I leave in the bay area and have recently learned about riding horses on the beach in Half Moon Bay!! Definitely on my immediate to-do list. :)

when I was little, my mom asked me if I wanted to continue ballet lessons, or take horse back riding lessons with my best friend.

In my 5 year old mine, that wasn't even a question. :)

But I would eventually learn how to ride a horse. Seems like an amazing experience.

Oh, I love riding horses too!! It was kinda scary the first time - cuz you don't realize just how HIGH off the ground you are!! But it's so much fun, such a liberating feeling.
(I even bought a really cute jockey hat...can't wait for the next time I ride!! :)

Been riding since I was Ten years old, and still do. I try to ride at least once/weekly. Indeed, one feels closer to heavens atop a horse;-)

I think we are destined to be best friends, Tiffany. I used to ride all the time as a child when I lived in New Jersey; sadly, I haven't so much as been near horses since I moved to California years ago. Oh, it would be so freeing to ride a horse along the shore - perhaps while wearing a goddess-like dress. Yes, so perfect!

And you know I'd guest post for you anytime - I'm too obsessed with Dancing Branflakes not to! :)

Horses are so beautiful, but I haven't ridden in awhile.

When I was young I went to a girlscout camp and I got stuck with this scary horse named "Phantom"... It was horrible...I've never been on a horse since! hahahaa I think my fear of them is fading tho because riding on the beach sounds like a lot of fun!

Hahaha - yup, she certainly should have a riding hat on!
When I was little we'd visit my cousins in Idaho and ride and ride and ride. Oh how I loved that! Haven't been on a horse for years.

I loved horses as a child too, did the whole riding lesson thing one summer, rode whenever we went up to the coast... And still, I don't remember ever getting about the "trot" speed. Lazy horses!

Oh, I love Half Moon Bay! What a gorgeous place to grow up! That part of the coast is so, so pretty! I've never been a rider, and it's probably too late to start. My niece rides, though, and she's soooo good, it's pretty exciting to live vicariously through her! Have a nice weekend! XO!

i've always been so fond of horses. although i've been around them, i've always been too timid to ride. there
is something so daunting about their power, but also so enchanting about their beauty.

I've wanted to ride for years, but I never had. When I was young, my mother and I had plans to go horseback riding one day, but it rained and we never got to go. When I was at the San Diego County Fair last week, they had riders competing -- they were all so calm and graceful. It's really amazing to watch.

I love horses, Tiffany. Love them. I feel a kinship with them for some reason. Horses and elephants, of yes. I would love to go riding again sometime soon.

I love looking at them but kind of reluctant to ride one.
I would love my daughter when she grows to take some pony riding lessons if she wants to.
Lovely post!

I've ridden a horse before when I was really young. Haven't done much of it as an adult. Maybe I shall? Have a great weekend!

Gosh I so agree with this post! I love horse riding so much and I actually asked my partner last night if we could go horse riding at Muriwai Beach for my birthday in a few months!

They don't allow horses to come into our beaches :( I love riding along the shore, not only romantic but a seriously lovely family activity.

I used to take riding lesson when I was a kid but never on a beach anywhere. That would be SO fun. My best friend and her husband did it on their honeymoon in Jamaica and she said it was one of their favorite things.

Oh, not for me. I had a very bad experience when I took horseback riding. Only lasted one day- they put me on top of the biggest horse! It was like a Clydesdale, it was so big. Terrifying experience, though I do like horses very much.

Oh totaly agree Tiffany I went to my local farm every week to ride the horses loved it, but then the dancing bug got hold of me & I couldnt do both! So tha dancing won. I have only riden a few times since never forget when I was working in Spain before the show we went to the beach & got chatting to a guy who had brought a couple of his horses down he let my friend & I have a ride unfortunatly for me I wrode the american saddle with bar feet well my feet blistered rubbing on the stiraps, by the time it was show time they were well & trully erupting! but the show must go on & dance I did, my poor feet not one member of the audience new but I tell you back stage heard all my agony (hee) my silly fault, never rode bare foot again!!!

I love, love, love horses! I took english riding lessons as a kid and loved it. Sometimes it was scary but for the most part there is nothing that I love more than getting up in a saddle and riding such beautiful creatures.

Aw yes, I'm with you! I was obsessed with horses until I was about 16, but I haven't rode since!
Will definitely have to rectify this ;)

How ironic, I spent the weekend with my horse :) I returned late yesterday, hence my late reply to this post.

I have a purebred Arab mare, she is retired now and I only ride for fun. When I moved from the country into the city I got my motorcycle license and now I ride a Honda CBR (sport bike). I am also a nationally certified coach, but I haven't coached in almost 5 yrs.

I also used to be part of a mountain biking club... I guess I have a need for speed!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend!!
