I admit that although I love my job in the dance world I still have dreams of changing my profession. Why, you ask? Uh, so I can wear really cute clothes, carry a beautiful attache, and not have to completely change an outfit in order to go out with friends.
What do you wear to work? Am I crazy for wanting to play dress up everyday?

I dress up for the office daily.
High-heels, pencil skirt or flats paired with playful dresses and a hat.
You. Are. Crazy. lol! Just teasing. I work as a consultant which affords me one of two options:
1) Suit-up! (Imagine that being said by Barney on How I Met Your Mother - - and substitute suit for pretty dresses and heels)
2) Cute PJ's (my preferred choice although admittedly if I am on a stretch of sitting at home this becomes just as tiresome)
Ah, I know what you mean. Although I enjoy working from home a few days a week I'm happy to still have a reason to pull myself together for work - blouse, skirt, high heels - pretty much exactly what I'm wearing in the post today, in which I left you a little tag. xoxo
Hi girl:)
No you are not crazy for wanting to play dress up EVERY day:)
However i am quite boring...
Jeans, heels, a t shirt with a print...of my favorite rock band...led zeppelin, and maybe a leather jacket...plus my new backpack....
I love being a girl specially for reasons like this:)
Have a great day - SP
You have no idea. I ride the subway everyday and see all these girls in cute outfits! And there I am in my sweatpants (nice sweatpants I might add!)
Even though I would like to dress up once in a while, I could never have a desk job! :)
You are not crazy at all...But I would die for your job...I adore what you do...As I work from home I have the comfort of wearing tees and jeans but when I have a meeting then I make sure to dress up and have fun with it:)...So I have the good of both worlds....The lazy outfits and the cute too:)
Kisses my lovely and I hope you are having a wonderful day:)
no you are not crazy!
I mean, looking good is FUN. it's more fun that not trying at all...
That's one of my favorite things about working full-time...a reason to actually get out of bed and put on some cute work clothes! I love coming up with new outfits! :]
...but trust me, your job beats wearing cute dress clothes any day. Love every second of it.
I think you're crazy b/c I used to have an office job and it was fun until you start cycling through clothes and going "OMG everything is black, tweed, and boooring" Then, you spend too much money on clothes...
I'd much rather dance for a living and change to go out.
:-)
I know what you mean. My work is very strict on dress code: long pants only and steel toed shoes!
For me, it depends. If it was a no appointment day I would just wear something super casual, but other days I would dress up in heels & a cute dress.
You are so cute. It is a good thing drapey layers are back in style again =) Now everyone is changing to what you wear.
I love my work clothes. I often am a bit more dressed up than my coworkers because I love sheath dresses, blazers, and even some button ups!
At the moment, I actually freelance in addition to being a college student; therefore, I'm at home a lot and can basically wear my pajamas to work or dress to the nines - love it!! :P
I know what you mean - but I quite like the comfortable clothes versus dressing up stuff. If I was dressed up every day, it would soon get to be a chore, but getting dressed for a night out at the ballet, well, that's all part of the experience .... and I'm lucky that I can wear both types of clothing for work !!!
i LOVE your reasoning for dreaming of changing jobs...I couldn't wait to get an office job just so I could wear cute outfits! I wish I looked as cute as these photos and I often dreaddd picking out my clothes each day but when I pull off a really cute outfit, it reminds me that some days I'm still pleased that I work somewhere I can dress up! Right now, I'd trade jobs so that I can wear comfy clothes!
I used to love to get dressed up for work in cute heels flats and ruffle tops and vests. But now I wear scrubs. Same ol same ol.
hahahaha! You totally made me laugh out loud. I love dressing up when visiting clients ... playing business-woman. BUT - my pjs are still my favorite attire.

I tutor autistic kids one on one at their homes. Most of "my" kids are 6 years old. When I went for my interview I was all super professional since I have always worked in offices or something. Sadly, my work is a lot of play and can get messy, so our dress code is EXTREMELY relaxed. I wish I could play dress up on a daily basis! You are NOT crazy hehehe.
You aren't crazy. The urge to play dress-up is why I majored in theater. These days, it's whatever works best for the classes I need to go to or the things I need to do. I do agree with you though -- a smart outfit with cute attache would be wonderful.
I usually wear loungewear to work. HA! It works best for my office...errr...couch!
I totally get it! I'm in the business casual boat and I'd love to wear a dance outfit sometimes! When I was younger I thought it would be awesome to wear a suit everyday, I got over that real fast! haha
Hehehehe - I like playing dress up too. I feel like I'm 13 again, watching those movies about "grown-ups" going to their offices and all the drama that happens...hehe.
Though, I'm sure while you're dreaming to wear pretty corporate clothes, everyone else (myself included) is dreaming of wearing a leotard and going off to dance professionally. (The grass is always greener, right ;)
I'm happy that I work in a pretty casual environment. You can dress up if you want and if not then that's OK, too.
I do like to dress up for work, but not everyday. I no longer have to, but when I did, it kind of got old. I like having options! XO!
i can't say i dress up for work because i just go the same way i go in my everyday life :)
my environment is pretty casual so you can wear whatever you want
yes you are crazy. my office is super casual, but still i find myself wanting to be more casual!
So many of us dream of being a dancer. So you are really lucky!
of course you're not crazy! at my old job i used to dress up even though i didn't have to. and now that i'm a stay-at-home mom, i sometimes get a little fancy just to go to the grocery store...i refuse to be stuck in sweats or pjs all day!
Not at all! I'm a big advocate of good change :) (One family member went from operating in the hospital everyday to a professional pastry chef - it was drastic & fantastic!)
Try doing it a few times without the job change. That might help you get it out of your system! Being forced to dress and doing it because you want to are totally different things!
i am totally with you! most of the time i love wearing my dental scrubs but every now and then i fantasize about having beautiful work clothes.
scrubs are not very chic. at least you get to dress up as a ballerina :) every little girl's dream!
I wear jeans everyday to work but it's not as cool as you think. I think those who can wear jean can get in a rut. But don't change professions!! Stay were you are! Just wear adorably classy stuff on the weekends and in the evenings. I think that'll be more than enough. ;-)
xo
Yeah your pretty crazy. Playing dress up will probably get really tiring real fast--and expensive too :D
Xoxo

I love to dress up for work! But I have working at a desk. I wish I could just get paid to dress up every day. ;oP
I used to wear things like this, but now I get to lounge is comfy clothes... I prefer the jeans and flats look :)

I think you're more on the crazy side :) but I do understand you. I don't have to wear high heels on a long long time and miss it too!
I don't have to dress up, just can't look too bum-ish.
I have an outfit that's very similar to the first one: a gray chambray blazer and wide-leg trouser-cut jeans. It DOES make me feel awfully chic.
Right now I work with children, so my "style" centered around clothes I don't mind getting dirty and can move around in. I too dream of being a sassy professional sometimes, but I have a feeling that's not my calling :)
What a cute thought. And I can relate to wanting to dress up every day:) And I do dress up a bit every day also:)
totally not crazy! I've had those thoughts of changing careers (but that's a whole different topic of it's own).
I've worked in many different environments that allowed different attire (from sweats to business formal) and I can say that where I am now, I'm free to wear whatever I want. most days it's jeans and a sweater and sneakers (only in SF is that a type of outfit good year-round), but every so often I do put on my collar shirt, or a skirt to shake things up (and yet I still don't feel out of place in my environment).
I think I know where that second photo was taken. It looks like Chelsea in NYC where I used to live. I hate dressing up, I loved working at Internet companies where you can wear jeans and sneakers or flip-flops. Magazines let you dress down too sometimes :)
My office is very casual, but I still dress up each day for work! Heels, stockings, pencil skirts and blouses. Signature uniform!
