Sometimes I look at pictures of dancers and I get inspired.
Other times I am just baffled and frankly a little weirded out.
Like fashion and other kinds of art, sometimes dance can be both completely amazing but makes you go "huh?" at the same time.
And for the record I still haven't figured out how these dancers are doing what they're doing.
Time to stretch!

I don't think I've ever seen that in a performance... What ballet company is that??
It looks vaguely yoga-esque but painful since she's only supported by him on one leg....
Definitely makes me go "huh?" too!
... ouch! Look at how much her leg is stretched out! I hope they're not balanced there. Because that would be freaky.
Wow, that picture is so beautiful !!
Enjoy your week-end !
xx
That must really hurt!!! but lovely picture!
That is insane! Ballet frequently makes me go "huh?". But it is beautiful.
Holy crap! I don't know who this would be more painful for, him or her!
That is an incredible picture!!! I am awe struck because that is insane.
I can't wrap my brain around that photo! awesome, but crazy!
The show itself was incredible - not just these two but all of the artists. The thing is, they are acrobats and gymnasts who have learnt to point their feet. No way can they compare with a great dancer in Swan Lake - Marianela Nunez for example. It's all about gymnastics, not ballet. But it is quite something to watch. In some pictures, like this one, it really looks extreme and not at all balletic, which a lot of it is. As long as you watch it, prepared for the fact that it won't have the same resonance as a great ballet performance, you'll enjoyit for what it is.
THat is AWESOME!!! I need to go stretch!
I have to say that is an amazing pose!
Oh, goodness! Theres videos of "chinese acrobatic ballerinas" on youtube....and they do things just like that lift in that picture! There was one I saw of a girl standing on pointe on one foot on her partners head, while doing an extension. It's crazy!
I LOVE dance photography, especially the crazy ones! It's amazing to think our bodies can move that way. Have you ever seen one of those performers who gets into INSANE positions--are they contortionists?--like head on elbows and feet all the way over their head, things that don't even look natural . . . freaky!!
haha! very true! I miss dancing so much! that's awesome you're still doing it! I'm jealooous!
So talented, but yikes! I'd pop in half if I did that!
Wow she's so flexible!
wow, gorgeous!

Beautiful and yes...very inspiring, like all good art!
Wow! That picture is crazy - I love it!! :)
wow awesome pic but agree with Cote Provence that's got to hurt! :) Cheers! xxx
that is one flexible person... reminds me i need to get working out again!
Can you say strength and flexibility? I love dance inspiration. xx
Whoa-you're right, I'm completely baffled by this photo. How is it that she hasn't toppled over?!
Holy sh*t!! How did she do that???
Oh my goodness - this is one of the craziest things I've seen!
wow! that looks slightly complicated.
That looks painful!
This is close to frightening. My amazement at what the human body is capable of never ceases... xo
ow!!!! how in the world do they do that?!
i had to take tumbling in junior high. i couldn't even do a somersault. my teacher just thought i was the most pathetic thing ever (rightly so, at least as far as athletics go), and when it was time to do a 2-man somersault, she just shook her head when it was time for me and my partner to try. sigh.
Oh my golly! How is that even possible?? Are there strings attached somewhere?
That kind of hurts ME... So, I'm pretty sure she can't be feeling good.
