Daisy

I love reading about rich people and I loved the book The Great Gatsby.  Yeah, it's full of frivolity, wealthy people, and low morals but the setting is totally my style: high class New Yorkers partying in a great big mansion with expensive things.  Who cares about the drama?  Mr. Fitzgerald, would you please describe Daisy's dress one more time?

I found these photos by Olivia Graham and this model is exactly how I pictured Daisy- way too glamorous and haughty for her own good.  I wonder if she's on her way to a moonlight party in the back or perhaps she's just relaxing around her home in loungewear that only Daisy could pull off.

Have you gone to any fancy parties this summer?
Were you annoyed or intrigued by Daisy?
(Marc Jacobs was intrigued and even named a frangrance after her.)
(And just as a clarification: although shockingly cute,
the babies in the pictures yesterday were not Jameson.)

In SA, we're just coming out of Winter now, so I'm looking forward to a good Summer party in the form of my school's Senior Spring Dance next month!

I love a good excuse to dress up and have my once-a-year Malibu and lemonade, with a little dancing. Yay!

Ooh - I totally know the feeling. Have you seen Atonement (or indeed read the even more superior film?) - Cecilia is like an English Daisy, and I love the way in the film they have portrayed her as so haughty. (I also adore her green dress and had my wedding dress made in much the same style only ivory!)

I'm going to an extremely swanky wedding on Sunday in one of the most exclusive parts of London. I'm afraid I won't be high-class enough for it, but I have my outfit and have even died some ballet flats the same colour for when my 5inch heels completely cripple me. Excited and apprehensive all at the same time!

Cool that you found pictures of how you think she would look :) So fun.

I would have to say my 'fancy party' calendar has been pretty boring this summer, but lets hope it gets more exciting during fall ;)

While I have not been to any fancy parties this summer (aside from the ones I held in my dreams!); I have always been intrigued (read: head over heels in love!) by Daisy. She is pure decadence - just like these photographs!! :)

I've only ever read excerpts of that book. But these pictures are perfect!

I am sorry to say that I'm a Daisy! Hopefully not as shallow, though! I love to get dressed up, and wish I had more opportunities. Thank goodness for weddings! XO!

I found Daisy a little annoying...although I found Nicole Diver in The Beautiful & The Damned intriguing.
The model and her look are gorgeous though!

So Fancy! I can't remember the book at all, now, though I've read it.

However, YES, that IS how I'd imagine someone rich and snobby to look :)

Morals s'morals! I loved Daisy, but I secretly wanted to be Jordan, the sporty tennis pro! I wish I'd been to more fancy lawn parties this summer, but a little Fitzgerald takes you to the Hamptons in your living room.

P.S. Thanks so much for your lovely comment - I thought the ballet proposal was the sweetest thing!

It would be soo fun if you blogged about it & the SF story! (Do let me know - it'd be fun to update my post with a link to yours - like a virtual crazy-romantic storytelling corner :-))

Fantastic post, Tiffany! Sadly, I hardly remember The Great Gatsby well enough to remember Daisy. I think it might be time I picked up that book again. But these dresses, I love. The Jazz Age Lawn Party I went to this summer on Governor's Island was very reminiscent of the era.

Omg omg omg! I loved, loved, loved Great Gatsby!!! I believe that she had so much fun at Gatsby's parties, and of course, so did Nick. :) I always pictured Daisy as a blonde...kind of reminding me of Dolly Parton actually.

My very favorite book of all time is The Great Gatsby! Loved Daisy, but I liked her off and on throughout the book. I'm really interested in seeing Carey Mulligan portray her in the new Great Gatsby movie.
