I can't. I just can't.

Thank you to all my awesome blogging friends for the wonderful sicky advice!  Whew- I feel like I could write a book with all the great tips.  Cod liver, Oregonanol, Zicam... you named it all, and I need to take some time to digest (hee hee) all your wonderful comments.  But here's one thing I take issue with:

Looks pretty but...

Fruit.  I just don't like it.  I know it's crazy but  I can't stand fruit.

Watermelon is the worst offender. *shudders*

After enduring years of eating it because I knew it was healthy for me (and trying to convince myself that I enjoyed it) I finally had to sit back and analyze why I don't like it.  The only thing I could come up with is that it makes me uncomfortable.  That's the best description of how I feel when I eat it.  Uncomfortable.

This is how I like my fruit: accompanied with chocolate and cream.

I love upside down pineapple cake, apples with brie, and chocolate covered strawberries (yum!) but fruit alone is annoying.  So maybe it's the texture of fruit that bothers me?  But fruit comes in all kinds of textures so what gives?

This is why fruit is harvested.

Do you like fruit?
I cannot be the only person who doesn't like fruit!
ps...I grew up eating kiwis, pears, and fresh apples.
pps...My favorite dessert is oddly enough a fruit basket cake and fruit tarts.  They are so pretty!

Diana- I love smoothies! I could drink them everyday!
Ilene- I am 27. Maybe I'lll grow up soon!

Could it be that you might have an ever so slight allergy to fruit? I'm seriously flabbergasted that you don't like it -- it's one of my favorite things. Ever. Almost all of it. This is like a detective mystery. But at least you haven't ruled out fruit for dessert with things. Now that would be truly sad.

i love it im just way to lazy top chop it all up! hate apples though xxxx

Chloƫ said...

Wow this is SO foreign to me! I could really live off of fruit and only fruit for the rest of my life if need be. I LOVE fruit! I would eat 20 pieces of fruit a day if it meant I didn't have to eat vegetables, LOL. That's funny you don't like it so much! Guess it takes all kinds to make the world go around! :]

So sorry to tell you this but I actually love fruit -- any kind of fruit from it's purest form i.e. freshly picked off the tree/ vine to slathered in cream and chocolate!

I think I came across another blogger who doesn't like fruit either. I think she said it felt too slimy.

I love fruit, so I'm not really sure what she meant!

abigail said...

I'm with Brandi, totally flabbergasted! Maybe it's a texture thing, which is why you like smoothies but not fruit.
I love it!

I love fruit! I grew up in a tropical country so we had fruit all the time - mango, guava, pineapple, coconut, you name it! :)

I grew up on mangoes and pineapples and still love them, but never liked papayas - I think we're all just wired to be who we are :) But it's great you can enjoy it non-alone, I love blending fruit and having it in juice (sometimes smoothie) form - maybe that might help?

You don't like fruit? Do you like yogurt? I love strawberry and raspberry yogurt!

Cafe Fashionista said...

I LOVE fruit - as in I could subsist solely on it. However, sadly, I am allergic to most of it - bananas, kiwi, watermelon...it's a tragedy, if you ask me! :(

Krysten @ After 'I Do' said...

Nooooooooooo! Oh my gosh, I love fruit! Seriously it's almost like candy to me!

Hollie said...

I've never known anyone that doesnt like fruit!!!!

Stacy G. said...

That is tragic! Fruit is probably one of if not the most effective natural remedy for, well, just about every health problem under the sun. What about smoothies? Do they make you uncomfortable?

shari @ little blue deer said...

Nope, and Mr. Deer always teases me about it! But fruit has lots of sugar in it, veggies are better for you! XX!

I have two cousins who don't like fruit by itself. I personally love fruit, especially in the summer. During the winter I don't eat it as much by itself. I put berries in my oatmeal every morning :D Love fruit tarts too! Hope you're recovering quicker than roadrunner.

i love fruit! my brother doesn't like fruit either so i get that you don't but it can be such a treat to me! it's hard for me to pick a favourite! i feel like this was brave confession to make! :)

Hutch said...

I think the only fruit I don't like is pineapple. It's all so refreshing and perfect on a hot summer day or in pie in the fall :)

The Cherry Blog said...

haha i love this honest post! I'm def more a veg girl than a fruit girl - i do love strawberreis and blueberries - but woudl rather eat my own hand than an apple. eugh.

hope ur feeling better! xx

I confess, I'm a fruit lover! I'm not a fan of over-ripe fruits (give me green bananas and rock-hard nectarines, please!) but I could eat my weight in strawberries!

Ana Degenaar said...

I love fruit! I CAN'T live without it... My sister hates it and she really has a hard time with most veggies too... :S

actually I'm not keen - but in the summer every now and again I can be persuaded by pineapple or peaches.

I feel like you just gave me insight into how my yougest feels about fruit.

I REALLY hope it doesn't make him uncomfortable forever but I'll try and be more understanding-

i LOVE fruit! all of it.. well bananas aren't my favorite... but i LOVE it!

OneCraftyFox said...

I like fruit... ESPECIALLY watermelon! And cantaloupe too. I like fruit trays and fruit salad, and I really, really, really love mango salad.

Am I making your stomach turn? lol... just kidding ;)

drollgirl said...

bah! i know one other person that HATES fruit! i love it! i'd much rather eat fruit than vegetables normally, but sometimes vegetables can be divine (if/when prepared properly).

i am sure this is of zero interest, but my summer crush on asparagus and artichokes has been INTENSE. can't get enough of them and i wish they would never go out of season!

anywhoo, you can always send your unwanted fruit to me!

I LOVE fruit. I would rather eat fruit instead of vegetables. Now I want strawberry shortcake.

Mara said...

haha I think it's funny you don't like fruit! I don't like watermelon either though. The texture freaks me out. Also bananas that are too mushy :( yuck!

Jammer said...

Fruit is actually the one healthy thing I can get on board with! Well some fruits - I'm pretty much a bottomless pit for strawberries, pineapple, apples and kiwi but not so much with grapes, bananaas, and oranges.

Watermelon is touch and go, depending on how hungry I am :)

Torie Jayne said...

I like it best in smoothies and cakes! Have a sweet day!

Kristin said...

I could LIVE on fruit! I hope you're feeling better soon!

Krystal said...

aahaha that "vintage laptop case" comment was a good point! hilarious :)

SabinePsynopsis said...

Until I reached the sweets pics I thought: Maybe fruit isn't good for you (you might have a fructose allergy, it's actually quite common and then fruit is a real no-no). But when I realised that you like fruit, but only in nice wrapping... Mmmh. Maybe you can just say you're allergic to fruit?

The Zhush said...

LOVE fruit...but Kiwis are a bit too slimey for me...hope you are feeling all better! :)

rebecca said...

it's ok. i don't like veggies. :)

i love fruit, but cannot stand having to cut it all up and then it just goes bad!

Punctuation Mark said...

i'm sorry but i love fruit... love the sweetness and the crunchiness when it's fresh... i'm with you on watermelon though... not my fave! hope one day you find a fruit you like and get to enjoy just by itself!

Karen said...

I love fruit and right now I'm going through a major fig phase. I could sit around and eat that stuff all day!
