On Wednesday I picked Mr. Branflake up from work and whisked him away for a surprise Thanksgiving getaway. The next few days were filled with elaborate dinners, special gifts, and PDA so bad Italians would blush (just kidding.... there was a lot of mushiness though.)
If you follow me on Twitter then you know where we went and what we did. Since Mr. Branflake loves the ocean I took a hint from writer John Steinbeck and planned an incredibly romantic and surprise-filled mini vacation in Monterey, CA (a quaint little town on the coast along Highway 1).
Some highlights:
~Indulging in French chocolate covered strawberries and croissants in bed.
~Seeing his face every time I gave him another gift (I gave him one every few hours).
~Staying at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa
~Dining at only four star restaurants where the ambiance and beautiful food made me feel like I was in a movie.
~Playing at the beach at Fisherman's Wharf
~The Monterey Bay Aquarium (sea otters are so cute!)
~Handing a sealed envelope to my loved one during our four course meal that overlooked the ocean.
Inside the envelope? A membership to the California Academy of Science in San Francisco, his favorite place. I led him to believe this whole time that we were going there.
This trip, and all the surprise gifts in between, was a thank you to my wonderful husband who not only works and goes to law school but makes me feel like a princess everyday.
Do you love surprises?
I can't wait to show you hotel photos (it was so gorgeous!), outfit shots, and the best beach side photo shoot with lots of jumping pictures.

Tiffany, all of that sounds just so fantastic! Mr. Branflake is so lucky to have you -- and you're such a careful planner! I love surprises, but no one has ever really surprised me with anything. They all typically think I'm too picky, but an unexpected weekend away? How could I ever say no to that?
You are such a wonderful person. so thoughtful. Hubby and you are so lucky. You look so sweet together! I love reading all the highlights of the trip. You just made me aware that I should do more for my dear hubby. I can't wait to see your outfits and the great food and the hotel because I know it took great planning on your part!
What a lovely string of suprises to have sprung on your loved one! Good for you two :-)
You are so, so sweet to do this!!And both you and your Hubby are lucky to have each other! :) I love how you planned everything & paid attention to all those ever-important details. These shots are adorable -- can't wait to see the future photos, I bet they're incredible :)
what a super sweet idea!!!!! i love this!! so glad you guys had so much fun together. can't wait to see more pictures, friend!!
That sounds amazing! I've always wanted to go to the northern CA coast...I can't wait to see the rest of your pictures from the trip. Glad to see romance and gift giving isn't dead quite yet; I'm always giving my boyfriend gifts, and sometimes I feel like I'm the only one!
that is so romantic! i love surprises and getaways so this post is such a great thing to read on a monday... have a lovely week!!!
This is the sweetest post!!! I can only hope to one day be in such a warm relationship like your's. I bet he felt like the best guy on earth during this trip. Not that you don't make him feel like that all the time =)
Everything sounds perfect. Mr. Branflake is sure a lucky guy!
You know, that is such a wonderfully thoughtful thing to do. I think that if you appreciate someone, it's really good to think about how you can make a contribution to their lives - really think about it - and it can only enhance your relationship with them, whatever that is. Whoever doesn't like to think that someone has spent time thinking only of them ?
What a wonderful idea!! Can't wait to see more pics!! =)
I LOVE surprises! How sweet! What a great Thanksgiving you planned out for him. Can you plan one for me? :)
wow, what a woman!! that sounds like the most amazing getaway ever. i love monterey, although i've mostly experienced it by bicycling the coast and kayaking in the bay. i would love to go back and eat at amazing restaurants and experience the romance! and gifts?! i love the academy of sciences! dannon's old roommate is in charge of designing the programs there so we'd get to go "help him" and of course i mean we would just use him to get in free and run around like school kids. :) that's a perfect gift for a san franciscan. what a lucky lucky guy!
I like that you incorporated dance into your blog. I used be a dancer and miss it so much:) Happy Holidays!
Oh my goodness, Tiffany, you're just the sweetest thing! Can I marry you?! :)
What amazing surprises! I love all those highlights - the chocolate covered strawberries, the aquarium, and definitely the academy of sciences membership - LOVE that museum :)
I love surprises, but I'm so curious and intuitive, so I tend to figure them out. Mardy always gets frustrated: "You're only ruining it for yourself!" :) Hehe.
Anyway, just hearing about your lovely surprise for your hubby just made my Monday :)
It all sounds so romantic and I can just imagine his look of surprise! And you're incredibly sweet to do this for your hubby! You guys look adorable, BTW! Looking forward to pics :)
