Cleanse

My bathroom drawers are a hot mess.  I have so much make-up and random toiletries that I cannot even remember what's in them.  And don't even talk to me about the dozens of green Clinique samples floating through every nook and cranny.  It's time to cleanse.

As part of my weekly resolutions, this week I am tossing out all my old make-up and toiletries and re-doing my entire beautifying regime.  It will take an entire week.  But I think it's important to have a place of order and my bathroom (although clean) is not orderly and that mini chaos allows unnecessary stress and disorder in my life.  No one needs that.

Besides, when I get ready I like to feel like a princess and not a messy teenager with too much make-up.

How are your make-up drawers?

mine are a mess!! I have baskets and baskets, old mascara from months ago, which I heard should be discarded after 3 months to avoid any eye-infections. maybe it's time to clean up as well. thanks for the inspiration.

I like the photos you chose! have a fun week organizing!

My make-up drawers aren't a mess - oddly enough. My nail polish drawer though; gah! Absolute chaos!! :P

I know exactly what you mean. I can't stand having to rummage through a thousand little bottles and tubes when I am trying to get ready, nothing makes me feel like I am running late quicker. So I have always been a bit neurotic about order in the bathroom and curating my collection of makeup and skincare potions (my husband would tell you I'm neurotic about a lot more than just that, haha).

I've found the thing that helps the most is testing a product right when I get it and if it doesn't work it goes out immediately. None of that "well this lipstick isn't quite right, but maybe if I wear it with the right shirt". Forget it, out it goes. Surround yourself only with things that work well so that you know that even if you stick your hand in a drawer blindfolded you'll pull out something fab!

Haha, oh, Tiffany, I love these photos that go along with your post! :) That happens to me all too often - I have no idea how I accumulate so many bottles and things. But my beauty regime kind of evolves naturally, and I toss things out as I go (usually when I reach a point that I really can't stand it). But it feels really great to do it! :)

All my makeup is actually in a small bag. I keep it fairly organized and just threw out some stuff that I haven't used in forever.

Ahh its so bad! My bathroom doesn't have any drawers so I have a plastic rolling set of 4. Sometimes I have to kick the make up drawer shut its so packed! I used to be a make up artist and its taken me 3 years at least to scale down to what I have now! So its funny your doing this...

I decided to do the same thing. probably about 90% of just my eye shadows I never wear. So I made a plan to wear a new one everyday. If I don't like it I toss it. After that I will do blush and so on. The madness must be stopped!!

I have a little box just with a few items that I use daily and the rest is put away in a shelf. That is such a great idea to clean it all up and just leave the things you would like to use. Good luck, sweetie
Have a beautiful Monday

Well that's a tough one for me. Since I've worked in the cosmetics industry for the past 16 years I've accumulated a TON of product. And I don't really like to throw any of it out because I use it as a portfolio of things I've developed and the other competitive product is a fabulous archieve. But it is kind of out of control. I wish I could purge and start over again :)

Happy Monday, honey! xxo

My drawers are totally embarrassing right now!

My make-up "drawers" are actually a large Kate Spade bag, fastidiously organized! I really can't imagine what I did before I got it-it makes it easy to divine my brushes, my eyeshadows and even my hair ties and bobby pins!

I don't have a makeup drawer, all my makeup fits into one small ziplock bag. I think that's not good. I need to get more makeup soon.
I love cleaning and organizing. Hope we lived closer so I could come over and help!
xx

I have a confession: I don't have any make up drawers. Only a simple tiny make-up bag. That's my secret to life. The only thing I have more than one of is eyeshadows, but that's for obvious reasons. I'm definitely all about keeping things streamlined.

I so wish I could help you organize -- I'd be there with the Container Store catalog in a snap.

bah! good for you! just know...you are not alone in this! LOL!

i recently got a craft box (think of a plastic tackle box) from joann's or michael's, and i put all of my make-up in it. it is relatively organized. but then again i would say that there are 20 lipglosses, of which i wear NONE except the 5 that i keep in my makeup bag in my purse. but i just can't throw them out. not yet! :)

good for you! i desperately need to clean out my makeup bag and bathroom drawers. you may have inspired me to do so! :)

I had to giggle at the Clinique comment. Mine aren't too bad... Lots of samples as well, several Jo Malone cologne bottels, nail polish, eye liner and lip gloss. Somewhat organized but could always use sprucing.:)

Currently, a DISASTER. I am loving your resolution. I am literally turning off my computer as we speak and heading to my bathroom to start organizing :)

Thanks for the inspiration!

For me it's makeup pouches. They could definitely be cleaned out (oy how much old stuff is in there!)

I just got rid of all the clutter in my room! It's nice to be able to actually see carpet again haha.

oh, I just threw out all my make up samples and felt so guilty and ridiculous.
I can't believe I've kept these things I'm never going to use for so long!

Cleansing is such a great way to sooth the soul. I've managed to keep my bathroom organized--although at 5'x7' I don't really have the luxury of clutter. That and I still keep my makeup and such in my trusty old caboodles. :)
