We Got Away

 image via

This last weekend Mr. Branflake and I packed our weekender bags and headed out to our favorite getaway place.

image via

It's a place that's close enough to get to by car but far enough to be special, a retreat if you will.
Emphasis on treat.

 image via

It's a place filled with photo worthy moments and gorgeous sunsets.

When we are here we are forced to do nothing but relax, read and eat good food.

My favorite part?  Shameless PDA with no cares in the world.

Do you have a favorite getaway place?
Romantic or non romantic?
By the way, our special place is Monterey.
We had a wonderful weekend with wonderful people.

Mardy and I love to get away to a spot in Mexico - it's the perfect place to go. I always love it because there are no clocks there, no Internet, no shoes :) Time is so fluid there - you eat when you want to eat, you sleep when you want to sleep. Mardy loves the surf there, of course, and we both love the food :) This is why I love Mexico so much. It's just the perfect place to go to recharge!

That sounds lovely. We have a little place up in the mountains that we love. Its owned by my father-in-law and we love spending weekend there. Should plan one soon:) Happy Tuesday, darling

Ah, time away with precious friends is such a delicious treat.
I so love ´passing time in the mountains or by the sea with a handful of my closest and dearest chums. Glad to hear you both had a ball;-)

I love your getaway story - fab. Our fave getaway is an awesome summerhouse on the coast of Denmark - white sandy beaches and fab ice-cream. Summer needed though.

monterey is so great! we used to go camping in the hills all around monterey, and we even went on an adventure trip biking the 17 mile drive and kayaking in monterey bay. we never got to enjoy the romantic getaway aspect though. we don't really have any place like that yet, but i think i would love to find a nice beach side town with a similar feel down here. maybe we'll check out one of the little towns north of malibu? hmm... great inspiration my dear!

monterey is SUCH a romantic retreat! love it. boyfriend and i like to ride our bikes out along the bluffs in santa cruz, no one is ever there and it's "our" spot.

Oh, I love Monterey. So beautiful and just a train ride away from SF. It might be a cliché but my favourite - most romantic - getaway is still Paris.

Awww lovely story! I love the words+imagery here ;) The boy and I have taken wonderful trips together, Belize, Philadelphia, Beijing, Upstate NY, Southampton, etc. Big or small the best moments are those small "nothing to do moments" of relaxation and pure love. As you so wonderfully described in this post ;)

London, London, London. Hope to be revisiting that lovely locale again (it'll be my 4th trip), later this year.
