Donuts and Pink Boxes

I've been having a craving for something sweet, light, decadent, and all wrapped up in a pink box.

There's a place on Freeport Blvd that sells the world's best donuts.  It's down the street from my old high school.  I've been going there since I was little and hardly able to finish one glazed puff of heaven.

As an adult, the little girl in me could not resist the beauty of multi colored sprinkles.
I could kiss whoever thought of putting sprinkles on a donut.

What is your favorite kind of donut?
Please, do include all the wonderful other donuts from different countries.
And I do know the proper way to spell it is "doughnut" but I had a horrible experience during a spelling bee in first grade with that word and I haven't forgotten.

Apple Cider doughnuts from this one farm in NJ are my absolute favorite, but I'm a sucker for a glazed doughnut from pretty much anywhere too. Oooh, and this one place in NYC has Tres Leches doughnuts. They're AMAZING.

Oh, I so want a doughnut now. I'll have to settle for a croissant though.

Hehe, I love plain glazed donut holes. That's my fave. I just love that you could just pop em in your mouth one by one...
But if I had to choose a real one, I've always loved maple bars too. Now they're a little too sweet for me to finish, but I can still have a few bites :)

So funny, Mardy and I find excuses to get donuts when we remember - usually when we wake up early to go somewhere (ahem, flea markets) and need a quick breakfast! :)

donuts are to die for. love the strawberry icing ones at DD - or the original glazed ones at KK. yum!

I agree with you about sprinkles. I've always liked glazed donuts with chocolate topping and mulit-colored sprinkles to seal the deal. The homemade kind using biscuit dough and powdered sugar is also big on my list.

Thanks for the short, cute post!

i like donut better :-) German donuts that try to be American style are called Berliner donuts. They are never as fluffy... more bread-like and not as sweet frosting. I love original glazed, or with pink frosting :-)

Now you've got me craving donuts - my favorite is anything with either sprinkles or chocolate icing and hopefully cream filling :)

I spotted Brandi's comment as I scrolled, and I hope she's thinking of the apple cider doughnuts from Terhune's-they're my favorite! I'm also a sucker for classic glazed, Boston cream and lots of curious flavors at Dynamo Donuts in the city!

Oh, I haven't had a donut in years. I think just sprinkled with icing sugar and filled with some jam is best.

aw, i think "donut" is a perfectly acceptable form of spelling. :) and this post was really REALLY exciting for me because donuts are one of my favorite desserts. i turn down most sweets because i actually don't really like desserts or candy {my dentist always loved me for this}, but i never, ever turn down a donut. mmmm! my favorite are chocolate covered. and at the famous voodoo doughnuts in portland they have oreo donuts - oh my heavens, those are amazing!

ps - as much as i'll miss steve carrell, i think will ferrel is going be amazing on the office. i mean, of all the people to bring in, he would be the number one pick, so it's amazing they actually landed him for a tv role. i'm so excited to see what it's like and how long he stays on the show.

your spelling bee comment made me laugh. you poor thing!

years ago my dad became friends with a donut maker. this guy gave us donuts EVERY SINGLE WEEK. it was ridiculous! all kinds of donuts. my favorite is still the plain cake donut. just so delicious! but i like the look and taste of almost all of them.

and i have never had a beignet, but they sure sound and look like they would be divine!

a good churro also goes a long way.

lordy, now i am craving something sweet!!!
