A great thank you to
The Blonde Duck who left a comment on Tuesday and kindly told me about
this feature in Women's Health. Mary Helen Bowers trained Natalie Portman for her role in Black Swan for an entire year. At one point they were training five days a week. Eight hours a day. That sounds like heaven to me.
In this feature she models clothes that combine dancer chic with runway style.
Gorgeous!

Wow very cool!
how perfect for you!!!
ahhhh she's gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing these pics!! You always find the best stuff :)
I'm so glad you like it. Those clothes were too gorgeous not to share. I'd love to dance 8 hours a day. Speaking of that, do you know of any good crosstraining for dancers? I wanted to pick up some new ballet/ jazz classes and I've been checking out some local studios. But I know I need to do some cardio to supplement, besides my kickboxing/ Zumba classes. I used to run but have found it hurts my dancing, so now I'm stuck on the elliptical...any tips?
Wow - graceful movement and clothing! I could totally see you in a lovely gown dancing!

She is absolutely exquisite. Loving these photographs! :)
Beautiful ! ADORING that first dress. thank you
wow she's beautiful! That must have been such a fun experience for both of them!
wow!! soo graceful and beautiful!!
stunning!
i still want to see "black swan" - have you? i'm nervous 'cause it looks so creepy but i hear the acting and dancing is incredible!
I love this too - and I really admire all good dancers. I'm reading a book "The Talent Code" that I think you'd find interesting ... it talks about practice and what makes one really talented.
oxoxox
Oh these are beautiful pics. I wish I was coordinated enough! But alas, two left feet don't work when it comes to dancing.
oh and thanks to you for posting it- im so glad to see this post. the photos are amazing. and i do wish i took ballet lessons when i was little..
hope you're doing great darling.thanks again for this inspirational post
xx
I totally agree with your last two statements :) And this dancer is gorgeous - how it must have been to dance that much! I can't imagine...but clearly, it all paid off! :) Stunning photos here - I love the clothes too! :)
i'm so entranced by dance and ballet...love these pics from the magazine spread. my alter ago wishes it could be a dancer :)
wow she is so pretty!! SO dreamy.
what makes her so magical is that she makes the movement look completely effortless, like anyone could do it. but anyone can't!
Those are gorgeous pictures. Dancing 8 hours a day does sound like heaven, until you remember lots of it is on pointe :)
so beautiful!
I would love to spend a year training to be a ballerina- even though I am sort of hopeless. The power, strength and control of ones body after doing that must be amazing.
that first picture makes ME want to dance...but trust me - that's not anything you or anyone else would want to see. i'll leave that up to you :)
xo,

these are beautiful! i don't do ballet, but i would probably pretend to if i were wearing these. :) i especially love the grey top w/ blue dress. i think i would wear that everyday actually.
What a coincidence, I was just reading this article this morning!! :) I adore these photos. She is so beautiful and the clothes...sigh...oh, the clothes. Perfection.

What a GORGEOUS feature! I'm particularly smitten with that full skirt and wrap sweater-so divine!
Oh, so pretty! I was actually just reading some posts on the Dance Magazine blog about Sarah Lane, who doubled for Natalie in the film, and how the studio didn't credit her and they even cut out the example of face-replacement from the special effects video, apparently trying to play up what the publicity claimed: that Natalie did 90% of her own dancing. They're here, if you're interested: Is There a Blackout on Black Swan's Dancing? and Putting the Black Swan Blackout in Context.
gorgeous images- so elegant and graceful.
I still have not see the film but will for sure when it comes out on video.
So very cool! These images are just gorgeous. I love that first dress.
Happy almost weekend! xoxo
I would love to be able to train in ballet like that -- I'm sure I'd be perfectly in shape in no time at all. I've always wanted a dancer's body.
Beautiful!! Dance and fashion go so well together :)
Incredible!! Have a beautiful weekend, Tiffany.
this is stunning! :)

Oooh these clothes definitely make me want to dance!! Wow, that article sounds really interesting! Her and Natalie must have shared a really intense experience, amazing!
Oh and let me know if you end up getting that jacket from Madewell :)
Any sort of wrap makes me think of ballet! Gorgeous clothes!

Absolutely gorgeous! I love it when real dancers model 'dance fashion'.
I was just looking at that article today. What a coincidence. The photos are killer.

Beautiful! Love images that capture motion, as these do.

Omg, gorgeous indeed! I just love dance fashion crossing over into normal fashion :)

Have you heard about how Sarah Lane (Natalie's dance double from ABT) is really ticked off that she hasn't gotten more recognition? I just read an article about how great an actress she thinks Natalie Portman is, but how you can't learn to be a professional dancer in a year and 95% of the dancing in the movie was her. It's pretty intersting.
I love those pictures though. I'd kill to study under someone like her for over a year!
gorgeous, specially that first image!
