Easter Dresses

Growing up I thought it was strange that my friends always bought Easter dresses.
It was a tradition my family never took part in (probably because we never really celebrated Easter).
But now, I making up for lost time.
I love the concept of buying a dress that purposely represents the beauty of Spring, rebirth, and nature.

Did you buy an Easter dress growing up?
Do you continue that tradition with yourself or your daughters?

We never bought Easter dresses either, but like you, I'm making up for lost time. I just got some cute ones at Old Navy!

They're all so frilly and fun! I didn't always buy an easter dress growing up, but spring is a great excuse!

Ooh, I am loving the ModCloth Grenadine Lemonade Dress - talk about girly glamour.

My mom used to buy my sister and I full-on Easter ensembles - we're talking bonnets and everything. :P

Ooo that last one is my fave!!! Makes me want to wear bright lipstick. Mum always made me and Ash wear matching jumpers. Bless her.

Hi!

Can I just say I love your blog and was so excited to find another dancer here in the blogosphere :)

I didn't get a new Easter dress every year (too expensive) but I was expected to wear my nicest dress that day, ESPECIALLY to Mass! When I have kids of my own, I think we shall partake in the Easter dress tradition.

And my favorite is the Lemonade dress and the last one, form Anthropologie!

that 1st dress is my favorite. I grew up really poor.. but we always got a new (as opposed to handmade) dress and new shoes for Easter. I have really fond memories of Easter growing up.

We never got new clothes for Easter, but my family was never really religious. Easter for us was about being with family and celebrating life in general. These days though, I'll take any excuse to buy a new pretty dress. Can I get a cute Easter bonnet too?

My mom bought us Easter dresses. I like to do the same for myself and my daughter. I think it's a fun way to update a Spring wardrobe. Plus, little kids need new clothes almost Spring/Summer, and Easter is about when it finally starts to warm up.

Love the Grenadine dress. So pretty.

These dresses are all so lovely! For my family, two Easters (Orthodox and Christian) would have been too many dresses! Instead we focused on producing HUGE quantities of food-lamb twice in the course of 8 days is no small undertaking!

What beautiful dresses! We didn't have a lot of money growing up so we would sometimes have new Easter dresses. I'm thinking about buying a new one this year.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. :)

i never took part in this tradition either, until about 4 years ago when i was living in san francisco. it just suddenly felt like a fun thing to do, so i got a new thrift store dress. i haven't done it since, though. i'm sure at some point in my future, when i have a fabulous easter brunch in my future dining room, i'll get a new easter dress. someday...

I never really had the Easter dresses growing up either, but we celebrated with the candy and baskets etc. But I agree with you as far as a wonderful way to enter spring. I love the Mod cloth one!!

Also yes I created that illustration yesterday, I am definitely in a major inspiration thing this week after taking some time off. I am thinking of creating another city illustration actually today if I find some time.

Have a wonderful day sweetheart! xo

We always bought Easter dresses, matching ones too, for all 3 girls. Usually pink or floral prints.

I always had Easter dresses, as well as Christmas dresses and Fourth of July themed ensembles. My very favorite Easter dress was a green and white gingham dress that fell below my knees and I wore it with white low heels and ruffled socks. My Mom even did my hair to match hers!

I wore a cream and turquoise skirt (thrifted) today with gold detail and matching turq. belt (H&M), gold heels (Dillards) and cream top (Forev 21) today. A mix of everything, much like me.
