I wanted to show you what I'll be wearing this summer: flowing skirts, a light rain jacket, and my new H and M camera bag. Why am I wearing a rain jacket, you ask? Because I know I'll be needing it this summer when I travel to...
The United Kingdom!
Yep! I am heading out to London for two weeks to dance at the Laban University.
Then I'm heading up to Scotland to tour the Highlands and run around in all the beautiful lush, green fields.

| My new foldable rain jacket from Target, my new traveling bag from H and M, comfy flats, and a carefree skirt by Banana Republic for frolicking in the countryside. |
Then I'm heading back down to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival.
Maybe. If I can find cheap housing. So if you know anyone in Scotland who has a cheap (or free) room let me know!
And if you are a blogger who wants to get together then let's make it happen!
I will be in London, Inverness, Beauly, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh.
If you think I should go anywhere else in England or Scotland I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I leave for London July 9th and will be heading back to the States sometime in August.
If you have any tips for an American traveler going to the UK, please impart all your knowledge to me!
I have never been to Scotland or England so I'm eager to know all I can before I leave.
I am so excited! But I do really need your help. I know there are many UK bloggers out there and you best believe I'll be emailing and Twittering you for advice. My blogging friends always give the best advice.
Have you ever been to the UK before?
What is the most important thing a traveler (any traveler) should remember?

While in London, make sure you visit the Victoria and Albert museum in South Kensington.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an amazing trip + amazing outfits. You will have so much fun!

ReplyDelete(search Edinburgh)
WOW!! That is an amazing opportunity and I can't WAIT to follow along!!! Tiffany, this is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun in my old home! I was a little shocked by the pushiness in London (literally people would walk through me in the Tube or on the street). The V&A, Tate Modern, and National Portrait Gallery are all great museums though. Walk as much as you can!
ReplyDeleteI loved New Tayyabs restaurant (Indian/pakistani food) and shopping at the Burberry outlet in East London. Have a fabulous time and please let me know if I can impart any tips!
Have a great week dear!
xoxo,
Chic 'n Cheap Living
Oh, Tiffany, I am SO excited for you!! (And you look stunning in these photos, as always! :).
ReplyDeleteI studied at Cambridge for a summer, so I have to tell you - warm jackets are a must! I actually had to buy winter coats - I was so not expecting the cold in August. Especially when we went up to Edinburgh - everyone was walking around with full-on coats. And bring a sturdy umbrella too! :)
Oh, you'll have so much fun, I'm so excited for you! Edinburgh is one of the most BEAUTIFUL cities in the world - I was there for the Fringe Festival too, and that made the whole experience so very lively and interesting, because you see so many characters and people from around the world performing on the streets. What I would recommend in Edinburgh is a quick tour of the city before you explore on your own - it isn't too big, and it's nice to know what all the monuments mean (I had a half-day walking tour with the company: Saints and Sinners. They were really good!).
As for London, it's a pretty city too, very modern. Don't forget they drive on the opposite side :) And if you have time, I loved the museums (Tate Modern was really good). And definitely visit St. Paul's Cathedral - the ceilings are gorgeous.
Oh, I'm so excited for you! :) It'll be great fun!
Your camera bag is fantastic! Isn't it exciting to have a trip to look forward to? Sounds like yours is gonna be a doozy!!!
ReplyDeleteA Foreign Land
never been to the UK. you will look stylish on your travels for sure. i cant find a summer dress (that fits) to save my life.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! You will have such an amazing time! I am assuming this is your first trip to both?
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Scotland but was lucky enough to be part of a WWII recreation trip in college...London is beautiful and historic and VERY rainy. Def remember an umbrella. Found everyone to be a bit tough to warm up to over there, but maybe that was just crazy college Carly's opinion..I was only 20 yrs old and wanted to befriend everyone when I went. lol
Make sure to take lots of photos!!
C
that's amazing! congratulations! i've always wanted to go to the UK.
ReplyDeleteTIFFANY! I'm so incredibly happy for you! You're going to have so much fun!!!! I'm sure a thousand people have offered you advice so far, so I'll refrain.. but I do know of the best place in the world to get a burger, and it just so happens to be in London! Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Do it, for me! :]
ReplyDeleteSo fun- I would love to study at the Laban school! And go to the fringe festival!! have fun :)
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh! dancing in the UK!? that is awesome!! so happy for you!! :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! You're going to look absolutely perfect, and I can't wait for the blog entries that a few weeks in the UK will produce!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! That sounds fabulous!! I look forward to keeping up when the time comes, I'm sure it will be thrilling. My travel tip for overseas - the proper outlet adapters, learned the hard way :)
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be amazing! Congrats! I can't wait to see pictures and read all about it!
ReplyDeleteYay! I went to London twice, but for a day or two only and I was a teenager. So it's obviously been awhile. I don't know what you should take - many changes of clothes?! HAVE FUN!
ReplyDeleteOh my, Tiffany, this is exciting! Shall we meet up? (I would love to) All the tips above are great, plus London is such a beautiful city, it's a pleasure to just walk through it. Naturally there are also amazing theatres, operas, the Royal Ballet...
ReplyDeleteAll in all London has much less rain and is warmer than Scotland - so take at least one summerdress (but then, there's always shopping!)
my one travel advice is to enjoy each and every moment... even if its waiting for take off!
ReplyDeleteAlso you are so freaking cute in these pictures! UK sounds soooo much fun. My brother went to Scotland and loved it said it was just beautiful! so Enjoy!!
Um, g/f, I'll be touring around Scotland the first week of august. lets make it happen!!!!
ReplyDeleteaaahhh!!! oh my gosh i am SO excited for you!! what an amazing adventure. i toured around england, scotland & wales back in 2003 and loved it. i actually wasn't treated very nicely in england because i was from the US {although things may be much different now}, but the people in scotland and wales could not have possibly been any nicer. scotland & wales are also incredibly gorgeous! we rented a car there and did a lot of exploring. so many cute villages, castle ruins, beautiful scenery, and wild ponies & sheep! my favorite city was edinburgh, for sure. that's where wendy from red boots lives. you totally need to contact her. if nothing else, she can give you all sorts of great recommendations.
ReplyDeleteyay!!!
YOU LUCKY THING! you will love london!!! i went once with my little sister and we had the best time! i was ready to MOVE THERE, but i feel like that on most trips!
ReplyDeletei have not been in so long, so i am sure it has changed. they have such an awesome transportation system! just incredible! cabs are super expensive, so it is best to take the subway if at all possible. it goes everywhere! it is organized! easy! efficient! so fab!
lots of art and parks to see, and plenty 'o shopping. and they speak english and they are friendly! you will have so much fun!!!!
Bahhh!!! You must spill! ;) I love surprises and big, good news, so can't wait to hear what else you've got on the horizon... and LONDON! So exciting!! :D
ReplyDeletexoxo J

ReplyDeletenice! email me if you have any questions. i'm a tiny bit of an expert. :)

ReplyDeleteSo exciting! I've never been to London so I'll live vicariously through your posts!
ReplyDeletePS Love that jacket when did you get it?
That is so incredibly exciting!
ReplyDeletehow fun!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyay! so glad the scotland posts are helpful!! you will have a GREAT time. it's going to be SO pretty when you are there, and lots of daylight!! xo
ReplyDeleteHello from England! I would like to welcome your to our shores this summer. I am sure you will have an amazing time.
ReplyDeleteI actually took a Contemporary Dance class at the Laban centre a few years back - it was hard work but I loved it.
The Laban is based in Southeast London which is where I was born and spent most of my life. It is pretty cool, and it may look a little rugged on the outside, there are some real gems to be found there.
I definitely recommend getting subscribed to the Time Out London emails, they give great inspiration for weekly events and cool stuff.
London has LOADS to do, I've lived there 8 years of my adult life and still only explored a fraction of it.
Also, Scotland is cold - always is, so pack extra layers for heading up north.
x
wow!! so excited for you. what a great chance and experience you'll have. I've never been to europe - so no advices here. but for sure will take yours some day. congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, what a fantastic opportunity!!! I'm so, so excited for you- like David Bowie says, put on your red shoes and dance the blues (well, don't be sad but do invest in red shoes, hehe ;)). My advice would be take a camera (of course), a tiny umbrella in your handbag, and always know where you're going with a map or very clear directions. My other big piece of advice is eat, drink, and be merry whilst out and about- I want to see some tasty UK meals. And try to run into William and Kate ;)
ReplyDeleteI spent a summer living in Edinburgh, and it was wonderful. I took a tour of the Highlands, too.
ReplyDeleteMy recommendation? Try as many single malt scotches as possible ;)
I shall try and make it to Scotland - would so love to see you Dance;-)
ReplyDeleteyour style is very easybreezy. love it!
ReplyDeletebeen off line and am now catching up on your blog.... what exciting news about your trip. Edinburgh during the festival is one of the craziest and most exciting places to be!
