No fruit evokes the memories of summer like strawberries.
As you may know, I have an aversion to fruit.
But strawberries?
Who could resist a sweetened bit of heaven?
Who could resist the color?
Do you know what's even better than strawberries?
Strawberry tarts!
Especially with creamy custard and a buttery crust.
These are my images but in no way did I make the tarts.
Nope, I quick stop to my local bakery and out popped these glorious darlings.
(Some may think watermelon is Summer's fruit. I will have you know that watermelon is disgusting.)

i heard that the strawberries in England this year have ripened earlier than usual. meaning they're the sweetest and juiciest they've been in many years.

I absolutely adore strawberries, though I'd like to maintain that the best strawberries are not made into strawberry tarts. They're the little wild ones that you pick fresh and pop into your mouth. They taste like sunshine and earth and sweetness. Tarts are nice too, but those strawberries fresh like that sing of spring.
strawberries are actually my most favorite fruit of them all!! and strawberry tarts are just heaven indeed. great shots - what a sweet treat!

I love strawberries in desserts - i.e. strawberry tarts, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry ice cream, strawberry smoothies. Ohmigosh now I'm craving strawberries! And yayay berry picking season is here! :)

I'm addicted to tarts. I wish I was a tart master because I'd bring one everywhere I go! =) Ooo I'm not sure if I've had a strawberry tart because usually it's cherry, blueberry, currant and blackberry. Ooo I must try!!

I love them. My sister makes the most delicious ones and we cut them and half to keep calories down but we chat to much and end up eating them all. I miss that.
good gracious those look delicious! sean single handedly dipped and decorated 150 strawberries for the mothers at church on mother's day. i'm glad he made a few "ugly" ones at the beginning so we could keep them here ... for me to eat ... all day long. i wish he would have made more mess-ups :)

about strawberries, yes i love them. They are so versatile. In fact today I made a fruit punch for my 3yo old but hubby also enjoyed it. He said it reminded him of his childhood. yay!

OH.MY.GOODNESS....these look amazing. We just planted a bunch of strawberries in our garden, and I might have to make a few of these tarts! My daughter could eat strawberries all day long (so could I!).

ugh watermelon is Totally disgusting! i'm so glad someone out there finally agrees. :) and yes, i'm with you on the strawberries. i love mixing some fresh strawberries & blueberries in yogurt, topped on whip cream & biscuits, or baked into cobblers & crisps. yum!!
although, while we're on the subject of fruit & summer, how about cherries? those are by far the most summery fruit for me, even though i had never had one until college.

I have been eating strawberries every day for two weeks straight with my yogurt or sweet berry tofu!!
Last night I picked up my first cantaloupe of the season and can't wait for fresh ripe watermelons to arrive ;) There are some in stores year round here too, but it's just not the same as local grown fresh ones

I saw that wonderful Martha Graham on Google and was absolutely tickled. What an incredible woman! And those strawberry tarts look ridiculously tasty; I actually just had a slice of strawberry cream pie myself. I've always associated strawberries with summertime. :)

You are working on my heartstrings with this post. I've always had a strawberry patch at home. I remember as a kid picking some for my mom. I probably ate more straight out of the garden than made it into the house! You may have inspired me for an upcoming post.
Wonderful pics of the strawb tart. Though have to say am somewhat obsessed with watermelon. Got cravings for it through all four pregnancies even though it gave me wild indigestion!
