My Workout Schedule

I thought I would post my workout schedule for no other reason than to hold myself accountable.
Otherwise, you'd probably find me eating popcorn and reading in my bed.
No joke, that's my most favorite thing to do.
Ever.

My next exercise challenge? Rock climbing.  Haha.
Okay, so this is a cheeky photo but I absolutely want to learn how to rock climb.
Photo of me by Yaneth White

Here's my daily exercise schedule:
Treadmill 1/2 hour - 45 mins
Bike 1/2 hour
Pilates 1/2 hour

I've set a goal to do this five days a week and so far it's been pretty good.
If by pretty good you mean I've missed a few days and I'll probably miss more,
then, yes, I've done pretty good.

And you might wonder "Hey, Dancing Branflake!  Why so much cardio?"
It's because as dancers we really don't do aerobic exercise in the studio.
Dance is anaerobic and if I want to build a healthy heart and lungs I need to make up for it.
And it helps me not balloon from all the popcorn.

Confession:
I bought 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels but I have yet to open it.
Why?
Because that woman scares me like none other.
And although I think I'm in pretty good shape I'm pretty sure she'd humble me in a spandex heartbeat.

What's your workout schedule?
And if you don't have one, no judgement here!
I love you just the same!

Wow, five days a week is great! I must admit I have none right now. But have been doing some work out now and then. But you are so right, I must have a plan! I'll make one today. Thanks for the inspiration! :)

hi hi!! yah jillian is scary, i've been doing her dvd on and off for about a month. but i finally made a workout schedule where i run 5 miles every other day, mtn bike once a week and "run" up a mountain for a mile once a week (it's hard!) and then after each activity i alternate jillians strength and abs circuits. i'm on my 2nd week of taking my plan seriously and loving it!

Jillian is EVIL! When I do the Shred I find myself wanting to scream at her lol.

I was just thinking about doing a workout post the other day! :] I used to rock climb a few years ago. I got into it b/c my gym at the time had a tread wall. I loved it! I want to start doing it again. And Jillian Michaels IS scary!

I'd never seen Biggest Loser when I got the Shred DVD, and I find Jillian totally AMUSING. Really. She is FUNNY. And she does kick your ass...but only because she cares. ;)

Fact: Jillian horrifies me. I'm afraid she'll kick my ass worse than anyone has. Through a video.

And my workout schedule? Pure Barre 3-4 times a week, running (cardio holla!) 2-3 times a week. Through some yoga in every once in a while and we're all set :)

Reading that schedule made me tired and achy :S - I have no schedule lately I haven't exercised for the past 2 months and trust me, I need it.

I do 40 minutes of cardio three days a week - this includes balance ball exercises and weight exercises. In addition to strength and stretching. I always feel fabulous after working out - I can't imagine not doing it! :)

Haha! I love Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred. "it doesn't come for free" "ya gotta work for it". But she does kick your ass. I just run. I am using the NYC ballet workout DVD right now though. I like it a lot!

I have a friend who swears by David Kirsch’s "Sound Mind Sound Body" plan.

...but I do hot/power yoga twice a week, and then climb a couple hundred stairs once a week. Plus I walk about ~2 miles each day (to/from the bus stop). It's been working out pretty well.

I own the 30 Day Shred but frankly I did the first 5 minutes and was like Omg she is terrifying. I would think on the day 1 it would be a lil easy. Nope. But I guess once I get over that hurdle of fear it'll be great. I hope. I try to do some free weights and at least a half hour of treadmill and an hour of the Wii Fit games. It's worked a lil. 7 pounds down! =)

On top of your dance, your aerobic workout must keep you in fantastic shape :)

Okay, I currently don't have a workout schedule, is that terrible or what? I've been meaning to & hopefully one of these days I just make it a priority and do it. I will come back here & re-read some tips from you ;) That image of you is so beautiful, you look so graceful & elegant.

That woman has me shakin' in my yoga pants-eep! I've only recently gotten into a routine-my voice teachers have regularly forbid me from ballet, yoga or pilates, but I've found that if I'm careful and modify the abdominal work, I can keep my breathing flexible for singing!

I have the 30 Day Shred and a couple other Jillian Michaels DVDs. I actually like them a lot. I don't think she's that scary. Just does what she does to motivate people. I'd love to have her train me in person. Try doing two circuits back to back for a great workout.

I alternate days between P90X, Physique 57, Jillian Michaels, and other cardio & strength circuits.

P.S. Strength training will totally add to your dancing, and you will not bulk up. Promise.

you're so awesome! i used to go rock climbing all the time with friends in college. i loved it, even though i'm deathly afraid of heights. but i haven't been in about 7 years. there are some amazing rock climbing gyms {that also have a full cardio gym/weights} that i hope to be a part of when i get a job.

my routine is always changing. some years i LOVE running outside, and other years i can only do the elliptical. for the past couple years i've been working out at home, alternating between two things:
1. the 30 day shred {which i now have memorized and do whilst watching tv}, and
2. dancing like crazy to upbeat music for 30 minutes.

as much as i wanted to punch jillian michaels in the face, i have to say i lost weight and got really strong doing her workout. i didn't do it every day because that causes injuries, but after about 9 months {doing it every other day} i had a totally different body. the first few days of each level are agonizing, but then they get noticeably easier which makes you feel incredible!

Not sure if it is relevant, however my wife has lost a load of weight and some very cute curves by doing Zumba. It has been a revelation for her and her friends and she (and me) would recommend it to any. Hope this helps everyone.

Here are some Zumba Videosto get you all started.

I've been aiming at more cardio, too... good thing I just got hired to teach cardio kickboxing at CSU's student rec... that's at least one day a week I can't bail out on ;)

I've been brewin' a workout post in my head, too... Hope you don't mind and don't think I'm copying you!

Oh, I hate working out. I keep trying to find my motivation. I have that Jillian Michaels dvd I did it ONCE last week.... I know pathetic, huh? It's not too bad.. if I can do it anyone can and trust me you will be sore but at least that way you know it's working. xo

Wow - that is an intense workout! I stick to the 30 minute rule for the most part. I suck at exercising so I think I do pretty good by doing that at LEAST 3 times per week. I love doing yoga and as the weather gets nicer I've been going for power walks/attempts at jogging. I may not be in the best shape but as long as I do something about all that beer and wine I drink...and sweets I eat :)

That is so much cardio! Go you! Mine has been regular.. but not nearly as rigorous.

Maybe I'll bump up my cardio!

we are meant to be friends. i LOVE popcorn! i could live off of it. a day is off when i don't have it - so bad i know.

and that is why i workout. cuz i love to eat. hehe. i normally hit the gym 3x a week. nothing too crazy. as long as i am consistent, my body is good to me. :)

I like your schedule. I swim 5 times a week for an hour and I try to go for a run with Balazs once a week. Swimming is something I have to do each day or my day is totally messed up. Strange, huh? Hugs and kisses

P.S: I'm hosting an awesome Organic cosmetics Giveaway today! Perfect for a summer glowy skin:)

Jillian Michaels scares me as well, but open the box it's worth it, big time.

I don't have a workout schedule. There, I said it. Now I think it's time for me to change that. I honestly don't know where to begin, but I know I need to because this body ain't getting any younger (or thinner....) OY! I bought the JM dvds recently and they don't warn you not to do it if you have bad knees. A LOT of lunging and squats and I honestly don't think it's that hard, it's just very high impact on your knees and I can't do it. I felt stronger after doing it for 3 days...

Hehehe :) I like how you have your work out schedule and then the picture of popcorn right after (it looks good)!
Woweee you are one fit lady to be doing all that!

I really should post mine too so I'm held accountable. For me, it's cuddles with a cute fat cat that get me in the morning. Maybe we can hold each other accountable? Here's my current workout schedule (or what I want it to be):
Mondays - lifting 60min
Tuesdays - running intervals 45min
Wednesdays - lifting 60min
Thursdays - running intervals 45min
Fridays - running 45-60min, pilates/other body weight stuff
Saturdays - off
Sunday - long run
What do you think?

DUDE. you work out 2+ hours a day five days a week?!?! omGEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! i have been trying TRYING to commit to 30-45 minutes 5 days a week, and i don't always make that goal. er, not even close some weeks. i need to step it up!

and there is a reason you are scared of jillian michaels. she is annoying as hell. i cannot stand her! i have those dumb dvds. i am not a huge fan of them. they are ok. then again, maybe i am just bitter as i never progressed past level 1. lol. OH WELL.
