*Thank you for all your kind comments from yesterday's post. Your words of love has made this experience complete.
Even though the below photo is my favorite, I did not show it in yesterday's post because I wanted to talk a little bit about it in a separate format.

My hair is long. It's a great for dancing (hello easy buns!) and fairly low maintenance. But I have to ask: when is hair too long? Right now it reaches my mid back and it just occurred to me that I am borderline faux pas.
What do you think?
When does long hair go from 'beautiful!' to 'uhhh...'?
and
What's the longest you've ever had your hair?

Darling, I love long hair, do not chop it! Maybe layer it?. Long hair gives a woman so much character, I am so bummed I chopped my locks.
We miss you too!! If you come for a stay, blueberry muffins are a given :) I can't get enough these days!!! In terms of hair, I think it depends on the person ... and yours is lovely :)
I have having my hair long but only because the upkeep is annoying for me.
I think you look gorgeous with long hair and it goes well with your dancing!
okay, here's my true confession: back in college i went through an extreme hippie phase. i went au natural, no shaving, i wore mostly handmade dresses, and i even had dreadlocks at one point {although that only lasted for a week or so}. during that time i grew my hair down to my rump and i had to put it up in a bun when i went to the bathroom. that is definitely way too long! i ended up cutting most of it off and donating it all to charity. while my hair isn't quite that long now, it is pretty ridiculous. it takes up most of my body when it's down and if i were topless, you would never know it. i think that's still way too long in my book. i'm hoping a friend of mine can help me cut it soon {i don't have the money to get a professional cut}. there's just hair hair everywhere!
Long hair is like an accessory in my opinion - I love it! I think that right above the derriere is a beautiful length for hair - after that it seems a bit out of control. :)
I think long hair is always ok, as long as it is kept neat (regular trims!). But if it reaches your bum, we've got a problem.
aww LOVING the Little Women quote! my hair is long but i want it longer.. however, i did the short thing for a while and loved it :) xo jillian
I think you need to go with whatever is right for you. Mid-back is fine but much longer could be too much. The longest I've ever had mine is a few inches past my shoulders and I can usually tell when it's time for a cut. Actually, I may decide to chop it and go a bit shorter for the summer.
I think when the hair reaches down to the butt, that's too long. My hair has never grown that long, though. Did you know hair has a terminal length? After it grows to a certain point (and it's different for each person), it will just stop growing. And it will only grow again once it's cut. So strange how it knows!! Haha :) But my hair usually grows just to my elbows - that's the longest.
I've been feeling pretty "eh" about my hair lately - sometimes I just want to chop it off (a la Emma Watson), but I know I could never pull it off :)
I'm curious what people say because my hair is about mid back too and I keep thinking of chopping it (at least a few inches!).
My little girl just said, "What a beautiful girl! She's dancing and dancing in the woods."
If you have thick hair, it works better long. Nothing worse than super stringy long hair. Gross. I don't know if I'd go much longer than mid-back. Definitely don't want to have to hold your hair up to sit down.
love that line from Jo! for me, it's not a concern of length - but thickness of it. your hair is gorgeous by the way. :)
I am a long-hair kind of girl. My own hair, at it's longest (there are a few loose layers to the way it's cut) hits the small of my back. The key to long hair in my opinion is how it's cared for: if it's healthy, dead-end free, relatively shiny, and never appears greasy/tangled/fried/other-nasty-adjective, than you're good. You have magnificent hair. Do with it what you will!
i LOVE long hair - i think mid-back should be the longest - i TRY and grow my hair - but i get to the length i'm at now and it just STOPS *boo* ... i LOVE ur length - KEEP it girl!!!!!
I love you hair.
I think hair only looks too long when it isn't taken care of and it has no style. If you aren't willing to do the work, it isn't worth it. However, if you maintain it, grow it forever!
I have been thinking this very same thing! Mine is getting a bit too long, too. Mostly it just needs a cut. I agree with what has been said--if it's healthy then it's probably fine. I also love the Little Women quote but I would say that your hair is ONE OF your many beauties. :)
P.S. I love all the pictures from that photo shoot!! Amazing. I think you should print one (or more!) on canvas and hang it up somewhere. :)
I don't know if anyone has said it yet (I am too lazy to read a lot right now), but I'd have to say if your hair is encroaching on your belly button or your butt its gone too far! Yeah, I just checked, I'd say its ok if its a little above your belly button but nothing past. You have fantastically healthy long hair though.
I'm so guilty of this-my hair is to my waist! I've had long hair since an unfortunate bowl cut and being mistaken for a boy (ouch!), and it definitely gets out of control from time to time. How much? Let's just say that putting it in a bun is actually TOUGH now...
Time for a haircut? Probably!
what a beautiful shot! I have had my hair pretty long - and then I got tired of it, wanted to experiment being a very short hair kind of gal. loved it. but now feel like going back to long. i suppose you can never go wrong with mid back length ;)
I think if your hair is full, healthy, and has body and movement (and you don't sit on it!) then it is not too long. I just dont like it when girls have super looong hair and it lays so heavy and flat on their heads... that is not so pretty.
Aw, this photo is lovely! Your form is fantastic (your training pays off very well).
I've heard girls quote Little Women, and those girls tended to have ridiculously long hair that detracted from the beauty it might have had. My hair has been all sorts of lengths, but I've found one that best suits its natural texture. I think natural texture has a big say in what's too long, too short. Personally, I think hair should not extend beyond the small of your back.
I'm with Lela for the most part :)
My hair gets straggly when it gets too long...like right now. Ha! Yours is lovely!
I think you can have really long hair as long as you layer them. This way they dont look too heavy. Your hair is truly beautiful:) Kisses, sweetie
I am going through this SAME dilemma right now.
My hair is MORE than halfway down my back..and I have a long torso..is slightly embarrassing how long it is..there just aren't enough hours in the day lately....been so busy- and when I have an hour to myself I choose a pedi over a haircut lol.
I love long hair but when it is too long and starts to look unhealthy- its time to visit your stylist.

ahhh, so beautiful :) i loved having long hair. mine was pretty long too--just grazing my butt (haha!) and my pony tail was literally as thick as a pony's tail.
but i just cut it for locks of love to my shoulder. it's a drastic change! but i love it.
just found your blog and i love! now following. please visit mine when you get the chance :)
if long hair is healthy and flattering and NOT riddled with split ends, it is beautiful!
i think crystal gayle's hair is TOO LONG, but that is just me. and i know that is a ridiculously old reference.
i remember some random stand up comedian's joke on long hair....
"there is a fine line between super model hair, and really religious hair."
hilarious, and true.
Another fabulous photo! I think your hair looks fabulous. But I have to agree with the comment above from Rebecca. That is so very true. Don't worry though. I don't think you've crossed the line :) xoxo
Oh my goodness, I love long hair too and ask myself this same question! Unfortunately, my hair is not thick :( but despite being fine, I do have a lot of it, so I can grow it out. I think the max length depends on your hair. Because of my finer texture, I can't grow it as long as gal's like you with thick hair. Honestly, I think mid-back is lovely - yours is perfect :)
xoxo J
P.S. I've never looked at your pics and thought, "geez her hair is too long!" ;)
ugh mine is so long!!1 haha one of my dance choreographers calls it hairogrophy. :)

I think long hair is beautiful. When the ends are all split or it get shapeless, or stringy then I think it's time for a trim. xo
Rebecca comment is so true! Hilarious too! Gorgeous shot, Tiffany! Flip your beautiful hair!!
So carefree love it!! Talking hair the longest mine was down to my lower back nearly touching my bottom.
I loved it but my bun was far to heavy & when we had to have are hair down for some routines it kind of whip lashed me or the dancer closest to me (hee) so had to give it the shop but not to much :)) x
Beautiful leap, dance on!
the longest hair I've had was 2nd grade. I lack the patience it takes to grow long hair. And I have a creeper confession, when you posted your dance pics to fb I was checking out your other pics & you looked SO cute with short hair. Like shoulder length. But I can see how that would be a bother when you're dancing.
I think it's so beautiful, my friend! As long as it's healthy, it's not too long! To dance with long hair might not be easy, but it's such a beautiful thing to watch!
Beautiful image!

I absolutely adore that picture! It is so beautiful and your hair just adds to it.
I think if your hair is getting in the way then it is too long but if you can live with it in every day life than it is fine. I've never had super long hair mainly because I get bored too easily.
i guess when it reaches the waist? can't wait for my hair to grow out longer though :)
I think when it's starting to get to the lower back... and definitely to the butt is when it gets too long. Your length is probably perfect. My longest hairdo was mid-back too.

That picture is awesome.
Also so jealous you've lived in california your whole life! may bump into you next year hehe :)

Past my butt in the 5th grade!
What beautiful pictures of you! I don't think your hair is too long. As long as it is healthy and cared for, long hair is beautiful.
The longest I had my hair was to the point that I was almost sitting on it. I chopped off 12 inches for Locks of Love and then two years later I chopped off another 8 inches. Obviously, it grows pretty well LOL! Right now mine is mid back, which isn't quite in my sweet spot for length. Another few inches and I would be good. I love doing it in updos, so long hair is fun for me. :)

I think hair is never too long, as long as it looks nice and well kept and shiny...
I love long hair, and right about now, mine reaches my lower back. But as much as I love it and can do so much with it, I'm beginning to get annoyed with it-- the amount of time it takes to wash, how heavy it's weighing my head down, and all the strands that seem to shed on a minute-by-minute basis. I love my thick long hair, but I feel it's time to go--I won't miss it for too long--it grows about an inch per month.
but don't you cut your hair! It's beautiful!
lovely photos! dancer photography is the best :)
this is a hard one. I think as long as it is healthy then your good.. no wire like strands that are fried to death down to your toes.. yuckie. But a healthy pretty mid back length I think is beautiful! I am a fan though myself. I love my long hair. Id love to be dareing and cut it shorter, but I feel very girlie too with it longer.
