New Workout: The Results

I am halfway through the 30 Day Shred Series.
I am on level two out of three and have Shredded everyday except Sundays.
The results thus far?

I'm really impressed!
Although I haven't lost a ton of weight I am much stronger and toned than I was two weeks ago.
And the fact that it's only 20 minutes makes me sing it's praises all the more.

For the first time in my life my tranverse abdominis (my lower belly muscles) were incredibly sore and it felt good knowing they were being toned (finally).  My arms definitely have more definition and my ab muscles are remarkably harder and toned, something very rare with this Branflake.

My one complaint?
The stretching after is too short so I spend an extra ten minutes stretching out my quads, arms, and hip rotators and flexors.
Also, I haven't lost any weight yet so I'm a little bummed.
Maybe they will melt off soon?

Are you a Shredder?
What was your experience?
Did you lose weight Shredding?
If so, did that happen in the beginning, middle, end, or throughout?
If you did Shred and now don't, why did you stop?

The fact that this only takes 20 minutes has me intrigued...I love to dance and get my body moving but am SO bored at the gym on the treadmill or lifting weights.
The two classes I NEVER miss are a dance class (taught by this amazing hip hop dancer who used to tour w Nike and dance at trade shows) and a cardio kickboxing class that literally KICKS my ass. Other than that I am SO bored by the mundane working out..maybe I should try this.
You are right RARELY do I feel the lower ab area...and it needs help after baby...thanks for the review.

i did the 30 day shred and ended up losing 12 pounds total. although, that was after about 9 months, and i only did the shred every other day, going running or dancing on my off days so i could use different muscles and relax the other ones on alternating days. {i've never understood why this is supposed to be the same routine every single day for a month. that's not doing your body any favors.} i think it definitely worked, it just took longer than everyone said {like so many other things in life i guess}. with my muscle strength and energy, however, i did notice a huge difference pretty early on, which was awesome. around this time i was also eating differently, adding plenty of healthy fats to my diet {if you don't get enough healthy fats like olive oil, avocados, etc. your body thinks it has to store the fat you already have, thus no weight loss no matter how hard you work out}. this was all within the year before my wedding, so i spent a lot of time researching ways to be healthy and lose the weight i had gained. keep at it my dear! it may take time, but your body will change in some really healthy ways with a healthy lifestyle. you're a rock star!

WHAT is shredding? I've never heard of it. But it seems to give you great results for 20 minutes/day. I wouldn't worry about the weight loss... Muscles are heavier than fat, so you can look much more toned and slim without losing 1 gram.
I only do ashtanga yoga and tennis - 'nuff for me.

P.S. Just looked at you in the post below - WHERE do you want to lose weight, Tiffany? There is nothing to lose!!!

I have never shredded before; though everyone is always telling me about this regimen. I'm more of a Denise Austin girl myself - I love her workout series! :)

I bought the DVD but never got around to doing it. I've just been sticking with my fool-proof Tracy Anderson. It's definitely more than 20 minutes long (try 1.5-2 hours!), but in my experience, I can't keep weight off if I only do little workouts like that. I've learned that there are no shortcuts (at least for my body). I do love Tracy though, I will sing her praises forever :)

I'm a shredder. I've been doing the program for a year and a half. Now I alternate the levels each day: 1,2,3 then back to 1,2,3 for the week. I love it.

good for you! i have just started taking a barre class (inspired by the tracy anderson videos) and i absolutely love it. but i only do it 3 days a week and should definitely do more!

ahhhh i LOVE jillian, i've been doing that exact workout every other morning, the other days i do the "problem area" one from her!

when i was in high school i was like 160 lbs and i started working out, my body looses weight SO fast if i just try.
and since i got back from italy i've gained it all back again! it's so annoying!
i love food too much haha

You and I will so be talking about this later today. I used to work out with a trainer but obviously now that I'm on the road I don't have much time to workout.

You know me I LOVE that DVD (Ya gotta work for it!). I love those one sit ups where you put your legs up and raise your bum off the ground. Really gets those lower abs! I too was so bummed out by the two second stretching! Maybe its because in dance stretching is taught to be so so important (cause it is!). I really need to buy that DVD

The 30 Day Shred is AWESOME. I first heard about it two summers ago--a bunch of coworkers wanted to do it during lunchtime. So, we commandeered the conference room and worked our buns off. I've been a fan ever since. Plus, I love Jillian's little quips: "That is fear leaving the body." "That is a false message of lethargy!" I even turned my husband on to it! One thing that never made sense to me, though, is that I always found level two to be, like, RIDICULOUSLY harder than level one or three.

I haven't Shredded, but I hear such great things about it! I've been loving power yoga lately for the definition in my arms and tummy!

Funny, I own this dvd and have not been able to maintain doing it for 30 days. I'll do it for about a week and stop. Seriously, I don't know where I put my motivation but it's misplaced! xo

i was a consistent shredder when i first got the DVD a couple of months ago, but now i shred probably once a month :( i should really get back into it.. i felt so good while (after, rather) doing it & it definitely helped tone.

Ah - you are inspiring me to work out! It's hard to find time - but it seems like just 20 min a day is working for you. Maybe I will give it a shot?

i did this for a week or two about a year ago, and then i bailed. maybe i should do it again? ugh. i am so lazy! i will think about it as i could definitely use some toning up and some variation in my work out routines!

I am a shredder :)
I took a break ever since I sprained my foot a few weeks ago. Now I just have to get back into it! Glad to see a post about it because now it reminded me to get back into it!

Way to go on sticking with the shred! I'm happy you are enjoying it. Please, please, please don't worry about what the scale is saying. It's obvious your body is reacting positively to the strength training addition to your workouts. Don't let the scale define how you feel.
