A Once in a Lifetime Car Ride

On Sunday I went to Church in Inverness, Scotland and met a man who was visiting from Aberdeen but was on holiday in Aviemore, a town thirty minutes away. At one point in our conversation he asked me if I wanted a lift to Aviemore so I could see the sights out there.

Me after Church. Thank goodness I brought my camera.
You never know when an adventure is afoot! (or a leg)

Sure, why not? I said.

Now, I know hopping in a car with a complete stranger is a big no-no but I could tell he was simply a nice older gentleman who wanted me to see more of Scotland. So I hopped in his car and we took off.

I told him that it was my first time in a British car and he told me that the car was as British as they came: an Aston Martin to be exact. The same car that James Bond drove.

Words escaped me.

Then we got to talking about ourselves and he told me that he was kilt maker. In fact, he designed and made the Scottish National Kilt and all the kilts for the Braveheart movie. (You've got to be kidding me.). He invited me to visit him in Aberdeen one day so I could meet his family and get a tour of the town.

I just might do that.

I love Scotland!
(ps... I am not endorsing you to hop into a stranger's car. Well, maybe if it was James Bond)

Travel culture is so friendly, pretty much anywhere you go. Especially if you stay in youth hostels! I'm glad you're getting to experience some of it!

Glad you had a good time, but maybe a licensed taxi next time?

The Scots are so friendly. They're even more welcoming in Ireland. They'd invite you to come stay at their house, even if they'd only just met you. It's crazy, but there's something very refreshing about it, isn't there?

Glad you're having a great time!

Mr Branflake must definitely be a bit worried about all these dodgy men pursuing you :) Particularly the bloke who demanded your number from his car! Keep safe, glad you are on English soil. I live here and have never been to Scotland... Enjoy the kilts for all of us!!

Sometimes you just have to take a chance and trust people -- and the results are fantastic. This is so awesome, Tiffany!

haha, i love this story! is your husband totally jealous? because mine is. and i highly support anyone taking a ride in the james bond car. i mean, you expect a little danger when it comes to james bond, but that's the thrill of it. :)
