My mom once told me that while she was pregnant with me she felt her first contraction while eating fish.
It wasn't until a few months ago that she told me that she was actually eating fish and chips.
That explains so much!
I love all fried food but I have never ordered fish and chips from a restaurant.
I always have thought they were too decadent and should be saved for a special occasion.
I think I knew subconsciously that fish and chips were to be eaten on my birthday.
I mean, I obviously wanted them when my mom was eating them on July 17, 198-.
On my way to my birthday fish and chips.
And the skirt?Totally made by my mother.
So yesterday while in London, I ordered my first batch of fish and chips.
That seemed like the most appropriate occasion.
I'm now calling fish and chips my birthday food.
Do you have a birthday food?
ps... thank you for all the birthday wishes on Facebook. I am quite humbled.

Hope you had a nice birthday. Enjoy the offerings of London, too.
I lived in London for several years and always loved to treat myself to Fish & Chips;-)
awww my birthday food would be spaghetti. weee
have fun in London.
So what did you think Birthday Girl?! I want all of the yummy details. I'm sure Sean will want to have a long conversation about your experience. I've only had American fish and chips, and I hear they don't even come close. You look lovely by the way
:)
that reminds me... me and my fiancé (I love that word:) ) made a habit of going to McDonald's to have chicken nuggets and french fries once a year :) We prefer home-made food to ready-made food, but also agree that treats are important :)
p.s. Happy B-day :))
I love your birthday food story and wish you a Happy Birthday!
Probably, I would choose a delicious salad and prawns to follow if I was eating out, but I might choose to stay at home and have my husband's seafood paella, which is yummy.
Happy Birthday! Hope it was wonderful. Yes, fish & chips is a happy kind of indulgence! xo
I don't have a birthday food per se; but during her pregnancy with me, my mom ate loads of Chinese food - specifically Egg Drop Soup. Oddly enough, I am allergic to eggs. :P
Happy Birthday! How fun to get to spend it in London! I love fish and chips.
Did you eat your peas too?! :] I don't have a birthday food... but now I feel like I need one.
I just made fish and chips the other night! It's very popular in Australia too. I grew up with it, so I took it for granted - we would have it on the beach for dinner on weekends, but I never realized how good it was until I moved to the US where it isn't a popular meal.
Happy Birthday!
Hmmmm.... I don't know about my birthday food, but I do have an anniversary food. For our first wedding anniversary, Brian took me to New Orleans, and we went to this charming French restaurant in a lovely old restored house and I ordered moules frites (mussels and fries). Then the following year, we went to a bed and breakfast and restaurant and I ordered muscles and fries again. I didn't even remember that this is what I ordered the last time until Brian reminded me. So this October will be a third year, so I am planning to make muscles an anniversary tradition.
it was your birthday?! i hope it was a fantastic one, full of adventures and memories, even though you are far from your loved ones. i love the idea of birthday food. i don't have any particular kind, but i definitely give myself the free pass to eat whatever i want no matter what it is. that has often included pineapple pizza or yellow curry from my favorite thai place in san francisco. mmm... :) i hope you're having an amazing week in the UK!
Happy Birthday for yesterday.
You know, traditionally in England we would have Fish and Chips every Friday night!
Remember, yummy food should be weekly fun not just birthday fun. ;-)
Hope you enjoyed it, and definitely try different places, because the quality really varies.
My birthday food? Probably Thai food, or Chinese Aromatic Duck. Yum.

aw Happy Birthday! I used to love fish and chips too! My mom and I would go get them and this funky little seafood resturant, so this post just brought me right back to the large wooden pelecan as you entered lol.
My birthday food has alwyas been fettecini alfredo with french bread, with a german chocolate cake :) Yummm mmm I wish it was my birthday that sounds so good right now!
mmmmmmmm, fish and chips are truly delish. i don't think I have a birthday food per se - but i'll have to look into it and see if my mom has any stories??

Nope, I don't have a birthday food. My only requirement for what to eat on my birthday is that it be really GOOD :) Whatever that means!
Happy belated birthday...hope it was everything you hoped for and more ;)
aww...happy happy birthday girlie! hope you are having an amazing time that you will never ever forget!
I usually go for a steak and bubbly on my bday! Hope you're having a blast in London and happy belated bday!
Happy, happy, happy belated birthday, gorgeous girl-fish n' chips sound like a perfectly decadent birthday meal! I'm not particular about my birthday food, but I love a bit of bubbly, and cake!

Fish and chips is so so tasty and so so very bad for you :) Birthday food would have to be for me though, mac and cheese. I just love that stuff!
My fave birthday food is marinated flank steak, potatoes au gratin, and German chocolate cake. YUM!
Happy birthday to you, wonderful Tiff! I would take fish and chips as a birthday dish any time.
I have a special cake. I was the first girl born on my dad's side since my grandmother. Ny grat granny made a red velvet cake the day I was born. It's my favorite cake
Happy Birthday, darling and you look so adorable in that skirt. I love fish and chips so much. Muah
Btw: Im hosting a cool print GIVEAWAY today:) Check it out:)
My birthday food always used to be beef rice-a-roni with a side of broccoli. Recently I changed it to my mom's tacos, but I am sure I will go back to my rice-a-roni phase in a couple years. I hope the fish and chips were everything you wanted them to be and more, and I hope you put vinegar on them, it's the only way... :)
I hope you had a wonderful birthday Tiffany - you are a beautiful, bright, ray of sunshine in this world!! ♥
xx's!!
Happy belated birthday!!! I've never had fish and chips either, but they look amazing. I always have an ice cream cake on my birthday and am already craving one and my bday isn't for another month!
Not so much a main course but I love having cheesecake on my birthday =-)
Bacon cheeseburgers and apple pie.
I love fish and chips! I don't have a birthday food but I love eating sushi whenever I can!

Oh, I'm so glad you got to try some good fish and chips! My birthday food is always the poppyseed cake I make. As for other foods that day, it's usually whatever else I'm in the mood for.
