The Loch Ness Monster

Carrie from This Free Bird mentioned that she has an odd fascination with the Loch Ness Monster. Truth be told, I had no clue he was hiding out in Scotland so when I went up to the Highlands it was not on the top of my lists of things to see. But I am so glad I did go because it was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen (the Loch, not the monster. Although I'm sure seeing him would have been pretty awesome.)

In order to get close to the Loch Ness you can risk your life climbing down the highway and to the water's edge or pay the admission to get into the Urquhart Castle near Drumnadrochit. I chose the latter. Once on castle grounds I walked down to the Loch's edge where it was shockingly empty. It was really just me and Nessie hanging out for a good chunk of time.

Do you believe he exists?
I can't believe I missed a sighting by just a few days!

I totally believe he exists. As a child I bought a book called 'The Paranormal Investigator's Handbook' and I still take it seriously. I am totally obsessed with the paranormal - like ghosts, bigfoot, and the Loch Ness Monster.

P.S. These photographs are just exquisite, Tiffany! :)

I have totally been here! I love hearing about places people have been when I've been there myself. I get so excited to hear that they enjoyed them as much as I did!

And I almost have the same photo of Urquhart Castle. My husband and I drove from Aberdeen to Invergarry to stay at Glengarry Castle on Loch Oich and stopped here.

We love Scotland especially the highlands. If you ever get a chance to stay at Glengarry Castle I highly recommend it. It is wonderful.

I finally understand your tweet! (I was a bit confused at first.) Loch Ness is beautiful! Do people ever swim there or are they worried about Nessie?

As I also have a strange fascination with the Loch Ness monster... YES, it has to exist! But in the end it doesn't really matter as long as the loch is so beautiful. I can very much see you relaxing on this tree, Tiffany.

What stunning pictures. I'd love to visit there. Well, I've grown up believing it does and I still do. I mean, they made a movie about it, and I read books as a kid. I believe Nessie is out there somewhere, or atleast I Hope so. :)

I actually ended up on a Loch Ness Booze Cruise instead of the usual tourist-y ferry ride. It was pretty fun!
