I'm on a spending freeze and it's hard. I went with Mr. Branflake to get him some Fall clothes (cute, right?) and I suddenly found myself in a sea of red tag sales and extra 40% off clearance items.
It was a nightmare.
More than that, Fall clothes are my favorite.
Well, boots and coats are my favorite and more specifically coats are my favorite.
I have over thirteen coats. That does not include the many jackets and parkas I own.
I'm talking coats, like nice coats with cute buttons.
I am drawn inexplicably.
If I were not on a shopping freeze I would buy all of the following from Ruche:
The first two are my favorite and I really don't need the last one since I already have this one that sparked my trip to Scotland but I still love it nonetheless. Maybe by the time this shopping freeze is over (in March) all these coats will be 50% off and Mr. Branflake will be so proud that he'll buy them all for me.

I really like that last one! They are all really pretty, but I've actually been looking for one like that...secondhand, though, because I'm a bit short on money.
Stick to your shopping freeze! You can do it! It is awfully hard and kind of bothersome, but reducing the accumulation of things to more of what you need and less of what strikes your fancy at any given moment is really worthwhile. In fact, I think I need to do another shopping freeze and for more than a month this time around. I am slipping back into my old stuff-gathering habit and I have very little money to spend.
These coats are so lovely, especially that first one!

I've been on something of an unofficial shopping freeze! I understand what you mean! It is like "but the prices are great!" and then I remember my bursting closest of clothes I don't use/am not that great at taking care of.

Ha-I like your plan! I finally bought myself a wool coat after living without one for years (really, it's SF, you only need one for a few days out of the year!), and it was such a divine splurge!

i couldn't agree more - fall clothes are my favorite! you can get so creative with looking cute with scarves and hats and boots and tights and etc. etc. etc.! i love it all. i just went shopping yesterday, but i had a very specific purpose to buy work clothes {since i don't own any}. it was so hard to stay focused. dannon had to keep saying "yes dear that is adorable, but will you wear it to work?" sigh... :)

This may sound strange, but I'd rather be on a spending freeze than a forced spending spree. I need clothes for the new job and it's a whole other level of dressing so I don't have much to start. So I've been forced to go shopping, and while it's nice to get good deals sometimes and find some cute things I like, I HATE trying clothing on. I actually sort of snapped at a sales lady who told me I couldn't wear shirts untucked anymore because I was in the real world now. I kinda wanted to yell at her "I'm 30 and have been in the real world for years." By the time I was ready to leave I wanted to cry.
My favourite is the second - I love the muted colour and its style. I can see how it has become a favourite of yours.
