Reading

"Reading is the sole means by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's skin, another's voice, another's soul."
~Joyce Carroll Oats

What are you reading right now?
I just finished an advanced copy of Sarah Jio's, The Bungalow.
My heart is still in Bora Bora.
A review of the book, which comes out later this month, will be up shortly.

Beautiful libraries! I wish I had such a thing in my house! I've just finished reading "The Book of Human Skin" which was really intriguing, voyeuristic and very dark. I recommend it. I'm just starting "The Schopenhauer Cure" next =D But maybe the bungalow after that <3

Stunning libraries. I'm reading 'Je t'aime à la folie' - it reminds me of when I lived in France.

I'm reading The Last of the Just by Andre Schwarz-Bart. Really moving story. Heartbreaking really...but all stories about the Holocaust are. This one though, stirs something in me that others have not. Hard to describe, but a really good book.

Those are the most inviting libraries or reading rooms I've ever seen. I am reading Tender at the Bone by Ruth Reichl.

Oh I love reading! I wish I had infinitely more time to do it (my reading list is getting excessive...). Currently I am reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I just love it. I had a hard time with it at first, but now I can't get enough!

Next I'm hoping for a classic like Jane Eyre or something.

hooray for books and for escapism in general!

i have not been reading as much as i should lately. i am embarrassed to say which book i am supposed to be reading, so i'll just let that dangle right there. it is the second book in a 5-part seriesof books. each book is at least 800 pages, so they are QUITE the commitment.

i get stressed out if my progress is slow going when i read a book. my brain keeps counting the pages left to go, like: YOU ARE ON PAGE 8 OF 891 PAGES?!??! YOU HAVE SO FAR TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!! it is so stupid of me to think that way! this doesn't normally happen if a book has me riveted. so, i guess maybe i should grab another book? but i hate not finishing a book or a series, so i guess i am at a crossroads here.

i have such difficult problems, no? lol

Oh, I so love a good library. You know what's awesome? I live two blocks from the Library of Congress. Guess where I'll be reading this weekend...

Right now, I'm finishing up a book on Food Justice. Next up: Fool Me Twice, a book about science communication. Then maybe some fiction.
