Where Should We Go?

I've decided:
Next August Mr. Branflake and I are finally going to go on our honeymoon.
Seven years later I think it's time.

Now, the last time I asked you where we should go the response was wonderfully overwhelming.
Out of the 68 comments the majority of you said Italy.
Although I would LOVE to go anywhere in Europe with my wonderful husband,
the truth is that I think a Stateside honeymoon would be more feasible financially.

Well, I'm sure we could manage going abroad but that would mean tightening our belts even more and I don't think I could give up my weekly pho nights.
Haha- I kid.
Well, not really.

If you could go anywhere in the United States for a honeymoon where would you go?

I'm not sure if you want to go this far but I would suggest Nantucket. Talk about idyllic. You would love it. Pristine beaches, quaint but upscale. Rose covered cottages, cedar shingled mansions overlooking the ocean. Old money mixed with laid back families vacationing. If you ever go email me for the inside track!

We haven't been on our honeymoon either! I want to go to the beach and swim with dolphins!

Seattle or New York City. Both are such glamorous locales. To me, I think Seattle would be a beautiful place for the two of you. It is very elegant, charming, and quaint...the very words I associate with you. :)

P.S. It is never too late to read A Christmas Carol! :)

If you like wine, I would go to Napa...
Palm Springs, and Miami would be a close 2nd and 3rd :)

We went to Sanibel Island in Florida--it's a bit touristy, but we stayed in a cottage in a more residential part of the island. The beach was down the street and really quiet. We actually saw dolphins and stingrays from the beach, which kept us from swimming two days of the trip but was too exciting for us to care!

Well you see I am so over travelling and I only want to go to America now!

I love Southern California and New England but I would love to get out to Montana or The Carolinas - you are so lucky you have so many culturally distinct states to choose from.

PS. We do the chocolate orange thing too!

It's been 6 years since we got married and we also have not gone on a honeymoon yet either ;)

I would love to go to Hawaii one day but I heard it is also very expensive. Have you ever been on a cruise before? I've heard they are quite afforable these days.

Hope you had a fab holiday!

Well, I don't know, as I live in Spain ... but I think that it is the being wherever, together rather than where you are.

Have you thought about Canada? Montral is LOVELY as is Prince Edward Island and Quebec City. You could even take a cross-country tourist train, it'd be so scenic!

oh how fun!! i guess it depends on your budget for US travel and what sort of experience you'd like to have. i mean, there's hawaii, but plane tickets are $$$$. i used to live in Bangor, Maine and it was such a beautiful, peaceful place. there are tons of quaint B&B's, lots of bookstores, and plenty of the great outdoors (we saw moose on a weekly basis). it's also super easy to take a train down to Boston or to tack on a few days in New York city. Of course you can also have the wilderness/city experience up in Portland, OR or Seattle if the east coast is too expensive. and i've spent a good deal of time in mountainous places like Denver, Boulder, and Salt Lake City, and I loved all of them - really fun cities with beautiful wilderness escapes. and of course, how could i forget to throw in LA to the mix?! ;)

Looking for a big city with delish food? Chicago. A beautiful, lush green city close to smaller, cute coastal towns? Portland, OR. Smaller, more isolated? Colorado! But I'm a bit biased there... ;)

that's tough, as i've been to all 50 states. it would depend on the time of year and then i'd be able to narrow it down.

I'd likely go to Hawaii, Puerto Rico (U.S. territory/commonwealth) U.S. Virgin Islands, Northern California.

I went to Barbados for my honeymoon. So exciting you guys are going on yours in 2012. I'm sure it will be so relaxing and lovely. What a wonderful trip you have to look forward to. Happy New Year!

I still have wonderful childhood memories of Cape Cod, so that would be a big draw - or on the other side - Seattle... beautiful country-side, but cold water. Brrr!

Depends what you are looking for! For beaches, I think North Carolina. For caves, Kentucky. For city, Chicago. For outdoorsey, Colorado. For museums, D.C. For wines, Napa Valley.
Can't wait to read about what you two decide on!!!

Being from the US I think I have too many places to suggest, but I have to say I would love to honeymoon in Hawaii, at the Grand Canyon, or even on Cape Cod in one of those adorable little beach huts. - Katy
