You Are Beautiful

image via Pepsi

I have a rule:
If I say one bad thing about my body I have to say 5 things I love about it.

Well, the past few months I have not done that.
At all.
I know that so many times my loving husband has looked at me and thought,
"Why is this woman talking so badly about my wife's body?"
Looks like it's time for an attitude adjustment.

So here it goes...the five things I love about my body.
(Of all the times I've done this, this time has been the hardest.)

1. I love that my hair is thick, healthy, and  low maintenance.
2. I love my fingernails. They are incredibly thick, healthy and shiny.
3. I love that my butt is small but firm. (TMI? Eh.)
4. I love that my stomach has definition.
5. I love that my neck is long.
It's so long that when I got my passport picture taken they had to alter the photo and scrunch my head down.

Let's start off the weekend feeling good about ourselves:
What are five things you love about your body?
(Not like, not tolerate... but LOVE)

I love that I can appreciate food and whine, I love that my hair molds to anything {except in humid weather}, I love my legs even when I gain weight because the have a nice shape, I like my height because I can wear high heals and not looks like a giant... thanks for this exercise... i needed it today!

Hmm.

1. I love my lips. They're full and gorgeous and most women pay lots of money for lips like mine.

2. I love my green eyes, they're interesting and supposedly very readable.

3. I love my butt. Again, I have the kind of butt that a lot of women would pay a lot of money for.

4. I love my thin feet.

5. I love my nails, when they aren't painted people think I'm wearing French tips without actually having to wear French tips.

That was fun, thanks Tiffany!

P.S. I'm giving away a wish bracelet today courtesy of Vivien Frank. Come check it out!

You have 5 things that many women would be envious about. I so needed this post, because I am very hard on myself... Now to think of 5 things:

1.) I love my cupids bow (the pointy part of my lips)

2.) I love my green eyes.

3.) I too love my nails, they don't grow so well - but I have nice nail beds (haha) and so even when they are short they kind of look long.

4.) I love my teeth/smile.

5.) I love my lack of hariness (tmi, eh!) haha but really, less need for tweezing and shaving makes my life a little easier.

Thanks for this post!

hm. 5 things that I hate would be easy! but I'll accept this challenge:
1. I love my stomach, and that it seems to be one of the last places fat sticks to.
2. I love my one dimple that sometimes pops up when I smile.
3. My B-sized chest. I love that I'm not too big.
4. I love my brown eyes.
5. I love my normal eyebrows. (My sister inherited my dad's crazy eyebrows, and thankfully, I took after my mom).

I totally need this right now! Here goes:
1. I, too, love my healthy fingernails (some one once asked me "are those natural?!")
2. I love my green eye color
3. I love my feet - they were made for dancing
4. I love my legs between my feet and my knees... weird, I know, but they're the most sculpted part of my body!
5. I love my small chest (sorry if that is TMI!)

:)

My sister forces me to do this exact same thing whenever I say something I don't like about myself...I guess I should try to do that more often.

That's a wonderful rule!
My 5 are: My natural hair color(a deep, rich, naturally highlighted dark brown), my skin color (always looks like I have a tan), my smaller waist, my small feet (genetic, thank god!), and my hips (helps give me that hourglass figure).

Such a great idea! OK here goes!
1- I love that I'm taller than most other girls my age. Scratch that- taller than most other girls full stop. And a lot of guys!
2- I like that my hair has a natural curl.
3- I like my smile, especially after having to have braces!
4- I have nice collar bones!
5- I don't mind my eyes!
Yay :)
This video is so lovely and it really makes you think well about yourself! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc4HGQHgeFE

Ugh, this is hard for me today, too, but here goes... 1) I love being tall; 2) I love my toned stomach muscles; 3) I love my toned arms; 4) I love the hazel green color of my eyes; 5) I love the shape of my booty ;)

Thank you for reminding me to be nice to myself :)

LOL! well this is a healthy exercise! i am not sure that i am up for it! it is super easy to obsess on the parts we DON'T like, but that isn't really all that helpful i guess.

i supposed my best physical features would be eyes, skin and hands. my manfriend would add boobs and butt, but that could be debated. i am just glad he likes them. lol

and your neck comment is hilarious!!!

OMG Tiffany! You don't know how much I needed to read this post today! I can find 1000 things that I hate about my body but this is such a great exercise to appreciate the body that I do have.

Here are 5 things that I'm loving about my body:

1. I love my curves. I'm learning to love my coke bottle figure everyday.

2. I also love my fingernails. They are long, strong and easy to polish. I especially love my nails considering that I use to bite the hell out of my nails when I was a kid.

3. I love my juicy lips.

4. I love my sweat pores. A few times I've forgotten to put on deodorant before I left the house and I never got musty. LOL!

5. I love my almond shaped eyes.

Thank you once again Tiffany for this blog post. This will help me start my weekend feeling good about myself.

Awesome list (and I loooove this idea!).

My 5 are...

1. My long neck -- I used to hate it, but now I appreciate the elegance

2. My hair color! Yay ginger!

3. My able legs and arms -- I don't think I appreciate an ABLE body enough!

4. My thoughtful and inquisitive mind.

5. Freckles. They're awesome.

1. i love that my body had the ability to grow and give birth to two lovely little human beings.

2. i love my arms, that are always skinny with definition.

3. i love my crow's feet because they show up when i'm smiling and have been earned by 38 years of laughing.

4. i love my fingers that are long and thin and remind me of my grandmother and mother.

5. i love the color of my eyes, greener as i get older.

Thanks for this post. I think my husband has had the same thoughts as yours too many times over the years.

my hubby gets really mad when I say negative things about my body too. he would really like this post! I like my hair (most of the time), my long torso, my butt (hah!), my small-ish frame, and my back dimples hehe. that felt good!

Debby said...

Oh, I LOVE this. I can't imagine you ever having anything critical of your dancer's figure! You are perfect just the way you are. Five things I love? This would be so much easier if I were in my twenties or if I had been hitting the treadmill. Not sure I can do this exercise.
1) I have eyes that are full of expression 2) I have a nice smile due to braces and crest white strips. That's it. I'll have to work on coming up with the other 3!! xo

Dinx said...

TIFFANY! I could not love this more. You are so darling <3 I also love your long neck which makes you look very elegant. I do like my legs, I like my slender hands (apart from not being able to wear many rings), I like my collarbone, I like my tattoos and I can't think of a 5th right now...I'll get back to you

It is difficult for me to think that you could find anything not beautiful in your appearance - you are such a gorgeous creature, Tiffany! The things I like about my body vary, but generally I'm incredibly thankful that I've got all my limbs and my senses (halfway) work. X

My boyfriend says the same thing to me every time I put myself down: "Hey, that's my girlfriend you're talking about!"

Inspiring post. I love my height, hair, skin, full lips, and small waist especially because I love belts. :)

{be merry} kate said...

Oh you are wonderful and inspiring! Definitely a tough thing to do! Here's my measly shot at it:

1) I like my ankles. Is that silly? Oh well, I like them.
2) My hair is long, super thick, can be curly or straight and is a pretty shade of brown. Not low maintenance but I love it.
3) Love my small teeth, even the crooked ones.
4) It's taken a while, but I like my pale skin. I think its a good shade on me and reminds me of my Irish roots.
5) Freckles. Every.last.one.of.them.

THE ALTERNATIVE WIFE said...

This is great! And hard to do but I'll give it a shot....

I love my:

1 - Eyes, the hazel color and almond shape

2 - Skin, I {knock on wood} have never had any issues with it.

3 - Hair for the most part. Only don't love it on humid days :)

4 - Boobs - is that TMI? But I have to say that's the only part of me that I love no matter what my weight. lol

5 - Smile

Thanks for having us do this! It took me a while but I actually feel a lot better about myself after finishing :) xoxo

I absolutely love this idea. I think women are much too harsh on their bodies... me included! So here it goes:

1) I love how my hair has natural wavy curls so it can air dry and look good
2) I love my small button nose
3) I love my full lips
4) I love that my arms always stay slender and toned
5) I also secretly love my butt!

So happy I came across your blog!

I cannot comment on your post of today! Having gone to boarding school in the US, I remember reading this speech during my US history class and I could not help but get chills. It is incredible what one person can inspire such change in others with just words. Thank you for sharing this today, it was a real pleasure reading it again.

(ps your pics of cinnamon rolls gave me a massive craving!)

This is such a wonderful post (and timely for me too). Please force us to do this more often! Here goes with my five...

1. My hair colour - it has a multitude of shades of honey blonde, light brown and chestnut (looks like I paid lots at the salon!)
2. My looooong neck - it's regal
3. A toned tummy (without having to try too hard)
4. Blue-gray eyes with long eye lashes
5. Full lips

In answer to your question, I was reading a short history of tractors in Ukrainian (which was lovely) and am now onto Rules of Civility (about life in NYC in the 1920s) - it's intriguing!)

Can I borrow that ab definition? Haha!

3. My green eyes...remind me of my dad

5. My hands -- because they're NOT symmentrical ;)

5 things I love about my body:

1. My hair - it's thick & dark. And it grows fast - a sign that it's healthy!

2. My skin - smooth & hairless (I mean, I don't have very obvious hairs that need to be shaved)

3. My size - I'm tall and skinny so I have no problem buying clothes

4. My pelvic bone - it's a bit wide but it's good for carrying baby. Used to feel ashamed of it but after getting married I'm thankful for it

5. My lower eyelashes - they are as long and as thick as the upper ones

I love my body!

In response to your MLK post (which the comments are off or not working...):
I am very intrigued to hear about your family's experience with the internment camps. To be honest, I hadn't heard of them until I was in college. It is incredible (and saddening) that they occurred within a lifetime ago.

this is so dumb, but i forgot to mention that i like my lips. and my feet. so there. :)
