Some things I learned last weekend:
1. Anything tastes good with puff pastry.
2. Nectarines taste best with said puff pastry.
3. Gouda cheese and nectarines should be best friends.
Nectarine and Gouda Tart
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
Step 2:
Line baking sheet with parchment paper (super important).
Step 3:
Slice 1 nectarine and Gouda.
(about 18 slices of each)
Step 3:
Alternate nectarines and Gouda like so.
Step 5:
Bake in oven for 15 or so minutes, until crust is golden brown.
Warning:
The nectarines might give off a lot of juice, making your tart look really soggy.
No worries! When it cools, the juice will gel into a nice, beautiful glaze.
It's best when served warm and the cheese is a little gooey.
Vanilla Nectarine Tart
Step 1:
Do everything like the previous tart without the nectarines.
Step 2:
When it's cool, melt 1/2 cup white baking chips and drizzle.
There you have it:
A super easy appetizer and dessert.

Amen on the puff pastry statement. I love nectarines too so this is a match made in heaven. I haven't tried it with that type of cheese though so I'm super intrigued now =)

Oh my gosh that looks AMAZING.
I was thinking of a way to make this an acceptable dinner, and I think if you added arugula it would be! I'm going to give it a try.

Isn't puff pastry one of the best inventions?! I always keep it in my freezer for quick bites.
There are a whole bunch of nectarines just sitting on my kitchen counter...I think I know what to do with them!
Delicious! I'm convinced that everything tastes good with nectarines.

@Anna- I think you should try it!
Wanna know something so funny? I just made an apple tart with puff pastry this weekend for the first time ever and thought to myself that I need to use it much more often. And nectacrines and gouda just happen to sound like a perfectly delish combo! :) xoxo

I didn't know nectarines could be used in savory dishes but this looks yummy!
what a funky combo, but now that i think about it/read it/see it, i bet it is scrumptious!!!
your pictures are GLORIOUS and very ENTICING!!!
i have a plain old peach sitting on my desk as my afternoon treat. it'll do, but next time i'd rather have a tart! :)
mmm...I really need to get some puff pastry. and necatarines.
I was watching the Barefoot Contessa earlier and she made the yummiest looking appetizer with strips of puff pastry, a few cheeses, and thyme. She twisted the strips of pastry once the ingredients were on top and it looked so pretty!
Totally and completely agree.
WOW!! i want to jump into the screen to eat that
