Dancing Branflake Thanksgiving Dinner Party: Upholding a Tradition in More Ways Than One

I'm a purest. I've used the same Thanksgiving recipes for the last eight years. My first Thanksgiving, I cooked for twenty people. It went off without a hitch and I haven't veered since.

Why mess with tradition? You get this meal once a year; it's something to look forward to.

So, yes, this is my third Dancing Branflake Thanksgiving Dinner Party on this blog. Not much has changed. Yet still... last night at eleven o'clock I realized I didn't have a post prepared and I actually got GIDDY at the thought of curating another Thanksgiving Dinner Party for you guys.

Just like in real life, there's something oh so special about sharing traditions with others.

The Decor
Classy, bold, and simple.
Just how Thanksgiving should be.
image from Martha Stewart Living

The Menu
All the favorites!
pie, potatoes, sauce, rolls, turkey, dressing

My Outfit
necklace, perfume, dress, clutch, bracelet, shoes

The Favor
I'd love to send my guests home with a box of these caramel lady apples via Martha Stewart.
A grown-up version of a childhood favorite.

How do you feel about tradition?
Too monotonous? Something to look forward to?
Do you have any traditions you'd like to share in the comments?

I love tradition, I think it glues us together; to each other and the past.

I love tradition so much so that having different side dishes at Thanksgiving dinner would throw me off! My mom had asked me and my brother if we wouldn't mind having different potatoes this year. We both said we wanted mash potatoes- they're tradition! I think she was a little surprised! Ha

OMG that DRESS. Perfect choice.

My traditions seem to be changing as my family changes but I tell you what, I can't wait to start creating new traditions.

Happy Thanksgiving! 20 people! Does your 8 year tradition include the 20 people coming back for your cooking? I'm sure the ones who can, do!

My tradition? Hmmm I'm never home for Thanksgiving. It has been expensive to travel and so I have always prioritized Christmas. This year I was nearly home, but I'm actually flying back to DC in about 40 minutes... S once again, missing the big day! I wasn't meaning to book my flight on Thanksgiving, but I forgot that it came early this year. Oh well.

Though I'm definitely a Bohemian Gypsy Free Spirit in how I Live my Life daily, I do find that I hold onto and Cherish our Holiday Traditions and rarely stray from them. It is something we look forward to and hold many fond Memories of... if something is not broke we don't fix it. *Winks* BTW your Thanksgiving looks WONDERFUL!!! Such Visual delights... even though I just ate my Thanksgiving Dinner, your Food shots are making me drool! *Winks*

Happy Thanksgiving from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian

I LOVE the rustic vibe of the decor - so beautiful! Personally, I love tradition when it comes to the holidays. It seems that so few traditions are upheld nowadays, so they make holidays more special and unique. :)

P.S. Your comment yesterday = love. I cannot believe that we have shared four Thanksgiving's together - so crazy!! :)

I love tradition, too. Like you said, this delish meal happens once a year, so I want the good ol' fashioned stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberries, just like I had as a kid. I appreciate the creativity behind the fancy changes and "new" recipes by the cooking masters of the world, but only in theory. Give me Grandma's stuffing!
Happy Thanksgiving, my dear Branflake!

I just discovered your blog a little while ago and think I'll stick around and look at other posts :)

Traditions are absolutely something to look forward to :)

We have the same blueberry pie every Christmas, but if one year we didn't have blueberry pie it would be OK (even with less antioxidants) because it would still be the same people and everyone would have dropped all their busy things they're doing, to spend time together.

Perfect and delicious! It was my first Thanksgiving ever this year - as it's normally not celebrated in Europe, but my sister brought it back after having lived a few years in Seattle... We all enjoyed it so much - any reason to celebrate with family and friends is welcome by me. Enjoy! X
